5.0 out of 5 stars Improved our baby's iron count 11 points!
Our child was exclusively breastfed during her first year so our pediatrician recommended either Trivisol or Polyvisol with iron. I think the earlier one star reviewer may have been talking about the terrible smell and taste of polyvisol because she/he is right, it just plains smells bad (like very strong medicine smell) and my baby does not look forward to taking it...

2.0 out of 5 stars Tastes bad
I really wish I could have gotten this to work. My baby HATED it! He gagged every time I gave it to him. He is breastfed, so putting it in the formula wasn't an option. He is 10 months old now and he is super picky about flavors, even in some cereal he won't eat it.

Our child was exclusively breastfed during her first year so our pediatrician recommended either Trivisol or Polyvisol with iron. I think the earlier one star reviewer may have been talking about the terrible smell and taste of polyvisol because she/he is right, it just plains smells bad (like very strong medicine smell) and my baby does not look forward to taking it. Trivisol on the other hand smells fine and my child actually opens her mouth almost like she is expecting a treat, so I would stick with the Trivisol unless you have a specific need for Polyvisol.

Our child's hematocrit count went from a substandard 28 to an excellent 39 after just 6 weeks using the Trivisol! That is just one easy dose per day. So I have to give this 5 stars because we really haven't changed anything in our child's diet except for adding Trivisol.

They make this with iron and without so be careful when ordering to specify with iron if your child needs the extra iron...

4.0 out of 5 stars Will stain clothing/bibs, October 10, 2010

This review is from: Enfamil Tri-Vi-Sol Vitamins A, D & C Supplement Drops with Iron for Infants, 50ml Bottles (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
We bought these vitamins after our pediatrician recommended them for our daughter. She's not crazy about them, but will take the dose directly from the dropper. They have a strong metallic odor and taste (from the iron.) I did not try mixing these with breast milk/cereal/juice. I doubted any of the mentioned items would be successful masking the taste and why ruin a serving of milk/cereal/juice if she won't drink/eat it anyway.

The liquid vitamin stains clothing/bibs. After washing, it leaves a dark grey blotch wherever the liquid comes in contact with the fabric. I tried spraying Oxy Clean as a pre-treater one time before washing and the result was a huge bleached-out spot on a pink bib. Definitely have a bib you don't mind staining around for these. Or use a wet paper towel to catch any excess while it's on baby's chin.

Re: price. Amazon's has the best price. If you're unsure whether or not your baby will take these, I recommend buying a single bottle from your local pharmacy. You may want to call first and make sure the store sells the drops with iron. Or check the Enfamil website for a list of stores that do. Most pharmacies sell the Tri-Vi-Sol Vitamins, but not all offer the drops with iron.

5.0 out of 5 stars doctor recommended, January 11, 2009

My babys doctor recomende I get these because babys need more vitamin D. I couldnt find them in any store so I bought a 3 pack. Honestly I forget to give them most of the time. They do have a funny smell and my son does make that "sour face" and shake his head when I give him them. I have been squirting a dropper full into his baby oatmeal. This seems fine.

Due to the iron content, the vitamine drops taste like blood. Hence, its no surprise that my baby spits it out every time, or worse, throw up afterwards.

4.0 out of 5 stars Totally awesome., December 27, 2010
This review is from: Enfamil Tri-Vi-Sol Vitamins A, D & C Supplement Drops with Iron for Infants, 50ml Bottles (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
I first used Vit- D to get some Vit D from my newborn. She LOVED it. But my doc told me that we needed to add iron. I bought polyvisol with Iron at Walmart. It was HORRIBLE!!! Smelled so bad. The whole room stank like medicine and iron for few days. AND it stained her (acually my) favorite shirt!!! anyhow, tri-visol w/ iron is SOOO much better. Smells like apple juice without that nasty medicine smell. But, it probably will stain also, so be careful!

My six year old son has Celiac Disease. He is very deficient in Vitamin D and Anemic. His pediatric gastroenterologist put him on 1 ml of Tr-Vi-Sol with Iron in the morning and 1 ml at night. Regular children's vitamins were not helping. He actually likes the taste of Tri-Vi-Sol. Great Product!!

2.0 out of 5 stars try without iron., August 28, 2010
This review is from: Enfamil Tri-Vi-Sol Vitamins A, D & C Supplement Drops with Iron for Infants, 50ml Bottles (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
2 weeks old baby. Pediatrician recommended using Trivisol(did not mention with or without iron). I purchased Trivisol with Iron without even knowing there is regular trivisol and one with iron. The poo turned green and baby was gassy. Looks like others have similar experiences with iron. Will try one w/o iron and see if there is any improvement.check with your ped about using trivisol and triviso with Iron.

Magic Vitamins in drops. The Ped recommended these to ensure that every possible nutrient was there to support his development. It is a little sweet and hard to swallow for the little one, but he takes it well and never seems to fight it.

Looks good so far, definitely good product.
