5.0 out of 5 stars 2 great classic stories
These are reprints of earlier category romance novels. Both are very good. Both feature slightly antagonistic relationships where the hero and heroine start at as enemies. Nora Roberts is especially good at the volatile chemistry between these kinds of couples. The first book, A Will and a Way forces 2 people to stay in a mansion together to win an inheritance...

3.0 out of 5 stars Amazon Romance book of the year???
Nora's Silhouette books were book quick reads, but I find it so strange to come in and see this as amazon's top pick for romance for the year - shocked might be a better word - for two four star reprints of little books!!

I am not knocking Nora, for I have 75% of everything she has written. But THESE ARE REPRINTS! And they are charging this HIGH PRICE...

This review is from: Engaging The Enemy (Mass Market Paperback)
These are reprints of earlier category romance novels. Both are very good. Both feature slightly antagonistic relationships where the hero and heroine start at as enemies. Nora Roberts is especially good at the volatile chemistry between these kinds of couples. The first book, A Will and a Way forces 2 people to stay in a mansion together to win an inheritance. Despite the fact that the heroine is named Pandora, this is a very good story. It has a slight bit of suspense as the other relatives try to force them out of the mansion so they lose the inheritance. The second book, Boundary Lines, is also very good. Jillian inherits her grandfather's ranch and tries to keep feuding with Aaron Murdock. This novel also features a slight bit of suspense, however the chemistry between the two main characters is what makes this story shine! These are both good light reading, perfect for summer.

And they are charging this HIGH PRICE because its NORA's name on the cover. Sorry, I get this feeling of SUCKER on my face when I pick one of these up and get home and find I already had them from years ago and paid a LOT LESS!!!

Nora Roberts is a super writer. Just stop re-canvasing these old puppies just she and her publisher can keep milking her fans and pretend they are something special.

These are good reads - IF YOU DON'T AlREADY have them.

A Will and a Way (Silhouette Special Edition #345) (Please note readers ONLY gave the 4 stars first time around!!!!!!!!!)Uncle Jolley's has Pandora McVie tied and she cannot change it. She has to spend six months isolated in the Catskills with Michael Donahue, her least favourite-though best looking-distant relative and co-beneficiary.

The Second tale is Boundary Lines (Nr Flowers Ser.: No. 47)again ONLY 4 stars - the feud between the Barons and the Murdocks spanned generations... Jillian Baron and Aaron Murdock seem determined to carry it into another one.

Sorry, these are Silhouette SMALL books that are reprints. That is NOT a book of the year. If you like Nora and want to read everything she has done, fine. But you just paid $7.50 for books they were only a couple bucks each and nothing special back then.

Sorry for the soap box, but it's a shame this hoax is being fostered on the book buyers.

GO CHECK YOUR OLD SILHOUETTES, you likely already have them if your a Nora fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Nora Roberts' Classic, June 3, 2003
This review is from: Engaging The Enemy (Mass Market Paperback)
This book features two of Nora Robert's older romance novels but they still show why she is such a great writer. Both novels start out with the hero and heroine on opposite sides facing danger and predictably end up with them both falling for each other.

A will and A Way- features Michael and Pandora, two people who are given a fortune by their recently departed relative. Unfortunately, there is a catch- they have to reside in the mansion together for 6 months to claim their inheritance. Sounds easy! But Michael and Pandora have always been at odds since they were teens and their jealous other relatives (who want their inheritance) try to make them leave the mansion and forfeit their claim.

Boundary Lines- Jillian and Aaron are neighboring ranchers who must battle the dangers of ranching while some unknown people who are stealing their cattle. Jillian, of course, thinks its Aaron and that fact is heightened by the fact that their two families are lifelong enemies.

Both novels are great summer reads- Enjoy

4.0 out of 5 stars Kissing Cousins and Love Thy Neighbor, April 18, 2004
This review is from: Engaging The Enemy (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a two-story anthology, both written by Nora Roberts.

A WILL AND A WAY: Pandora McVie and Michael Donahue are cousins, if only by marriage. They both adored their Uncle Jolley, but their relationship with each other has always been antagonistic. Uncle Jolley had played matchmaker between them before and failed, but now he's trying again, from the great beyond. His estate is worth one hundred fifty million dollars, to be split equally between Pandora and Michael, but there's a catch. They have to move into his mansion in the Catskills and live there together for six months. If they fail, the inheritance reverts to their shallow and greedy family members. Their family, of course, conspires and uses trickery to drive them out.

BOUNDARY LINES: Jillian Baron inherited her Montana cattle ranch from her grandfather, and works tirelessly to keep it functioning at optimum level. The Barons have been feuding for generations with the neighboring ranch owners, the Murdocks. Aaron Murdock has just recently returned to assist his father with the running of the Double M. The chemistry between Jillian and Aaron is unmistakable, but someone is stealing cattle from Jillian, and all signs point to the Murdocks.

These stories were originally published separately as Silhouette Intimate Moments back in the mid 80's. I enjoyed both, and felt they each had pretty much stood the test of time. The first story felt only slightly dated. If you didn't read them when originally published, they would serve well for good, light summer reading. Separately, I would rate the first story 3 ½ stars, and the second one 4 ½ stars. Ms. Roberts does a good job portraying these volatile romances, a type I'm quite partial to reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Engaging" stories, April 24, 2003
This review is from: Engaging The Enemy (Mass Market Paperback)
These are two classic Nora Roberts stories, both very entertaining and light and easy summer reading.

Boundary Lines was my personal favorite of the two, but both are still great stories. Boundary Lines is about a family feud between the Barons and the Murdocks. Aaron Murdock and Jillian Baron are adults who have grown up with the feud, so when Jillian sees Aaron trespassing, so to speak, on her land, she lays into him because it has been so ingrained into her. But, both are deeply attracted to each other upon first meeting. Aaron wants to get to know her better, but Jillian fights the feelings developing between them because of her family loyalty. It is a struggle, and the conflict is mild, but the love story is great. A wonderful way to start off this "miniseries" of stories.

A Will and A Way is also a great story, with an interesting little mystery thrown into the mix to spice things up. Pandora McVie and Michael Donahue who are, according to the book synopsis, distant relatives, so take that as you will. They are both given bequests in their Uncle Jolley's will, and they have to live under his roof together for six months in order to fulfill the will. But, both decided to do it because otherwise, if I remember right, something would happen to their bequests that they didn't want to happen. Both figure things can't be that bad, but with the little mystery of who is trying to hurt them for their money, and the added romance, A Will and A Way is a great story.

Neither are Roberts best stories ever, but any romance fan should enjoy the theme of two "enemies" coming to terms in the best possible way: love.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised, September 4, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Engaging The Enemy (Mass Market Paperback)
I have to say I am a diehard J. D. Robb fan and do not always like the strictly romance books of Nora Roberts. However, I picked up Engaging the Enemy after reading all the previous positive reviews here and must admit I heartily agree. Although both are Roberts' earlier works, the characters and storylines were enjoyable and flowed smoothly. Would highly recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars Engaging redux!, August 29, 2004

This review is from: Engaging The Enemy (Mass Market Paperback)
Not until I was into this did I realize I had read it before. But it's still Nora and it was still entertaining.

A Will and a Way was entertaining but Boundary Lines was fascinating in that I think Nora was practicing for her ".....In Death" series. Some of the dialogue between Jillian and Aaron was quite the same as some of the interchange between Eve and Roarke. I loved it anyway!!! It's an addition to my collection.
