The perfect bass for the intermediate student. It has a close grained spruce top and curly maple back. Violin shaped, with a shaded brown finish. Hard maple fingerboard. This Bass is light in weight for quick response and full rich tone. It is fully arched. Special oil-treated maple neck. Easy-tuning machine heads. Non-slip adjustable end pin. Carefully fitted maple bridge and spruce sound post. Shown on the left in the picture. 2 year manufacturer's warranty. List Price: $1845
Standard Basses are regulation 3/4 size. Overall length: 72 inches. Scale or string length: 42 inches. Designed for ages 15 years and over.

All Engelhardt Basses and Cellos feature lightweight laminated construction for the finest tone and serviceability. They are moisture, temperature and climate proofed. All instruments have rock hard maple necks which resist warping. The tops and backs are fully arched, properly sized and aligned for sensitive response to make the Engelhardt instrument easier to play.

Purchased one these in 2002. Tone is good and gets better with age. You will need to have a shop or some one rework the nut and Bridge. The strings a bit high for comfort. Fit and Finish are good. Quality is pretty good on these Bass'. Former Employee's of Kay Bass took over the business after Kay went Bankrupt in the early 70's. Using much of the same tooling and fixtures belonging to Kay. They did not buy the "Kay" name, So It took the name of former Kay employee Mr. Engelhardt.
These are Made in USA, and will hold their value and appeal better than imports from Asia. There are a lot of 60 - 75 yr. Kays still around and they sell for a Lot of Money.
