The book itself is very well-written, and I found it actually quite enjoyable to read. However, the book itself does a poor job actually teaching circuit theory as it offers very few examples per chapter of the kinds of problems you would encounter in the homework. Also, this is the only textbook I have ever read that provides some example questions to prepare you for the homework at the end of the chapters WITHOUT actually working out the problem. What I mean is that the book will have a sample question, say, "Calculate the voltage going through element such and such," and simply tell you the answer without working out the problem for you. This, of course, is no help to the unexperienced student. What makes matters worse is that there are errors throughout the text. Even more disturbing is the fact that there are errors throughout the solutions manual. And by the way, solutions manuals are only available to the teachers, and if your professor is anything like mine, you may not receive the solutions until after you have completed your homework. I know I learn best when using the solutions manual as I go through my homework.

This being said, circuit theory can be a very simple course if taught properly. I feel this book complicates the subject and makes it unnecessarily difficult. However, it is not dense at all, and it should prove a very light, pleasant read for those already familiar with the subject. The book does a great job tying the theory together with real-world application. But as a teaching material, I must give this book one-star review.

I bought this as I had used it at University back in the late 80's early 90's. It is truly a wonderful book that covers the topic in a clear and understandable way. So I bought it, only to find that it doesn't run on my Kindle DX (or any Kindle for that matter). I can read it on my PC, Still a great book but not in the format I thought it would be. I hope Kindle fix this problem as well as draw buyers attention to this fact.

I edited my score on this book because I was having so much trouble understanding it; This is still a great resource book full of examples to try to solve once you find a book that actually explains how to solve them (well, Unless you are a math wizard.) When I first read this book I though I was the reason I couldn't understand it; I changed my mind when I read, "Circuit Analysis: Theory and practice." A book aimed more towards technicians but covered a lot of the calculus needed to derive the much simpler algebraic equations used in solving problems. After reading that book I could go back to the first 10 chapters and answer a lot of the problems in a matter of minutes instead of hours.

Another issue is none of the end of chapter problems are solved in the back of the book.

One plus The exercise problems that the book does preform are almost completely free of errors.

In summery: This book is terrible at explaining how to work problems. it almost seems like it is written for people with photographic memories. It feels like each section has a completely different way to solve a circuit that could have been solved using a similar procedure previously learned in other examples; instead, it decided to make it so complicated, that I finally got so frustrated that I went to another book.

This is probably one of the worst textbooks the human race has ever created.

First of all, the book is very unclear which makes difficult subject matter even harder to learn. The "example" problems actually introduce new concepts not previously covered, and the authors skip lots of math steps which makes it needlessly difficult to follow along.

Moreover, I would estimate that 40% of the answer key is incorrect (that would be an F, if this textbook were taking a class). How can you learn to do these problems if the textbook can't tell you the answer? How do you know if you're doing it right? The "errata" document the publisher provides doesn't even include errors to the answer key. Actually, the answer key isn't even in the student edition, you have to get it from your professor. What college level textbook doesn't include answers to at least the odd numbered problems? The publisher should refund everyone's money who was forced to buy this textbook.

On the plus side, every once in a while there a funny sentence or two thrown in, at least if you think that electrical engineering jokes can be funny.

After chapters problems have mistakes that need to be fixed. Clarity worth up to 3-4 stars. My professor said that the older version of this book is much better.
