This review is from: An Engineering Introduction to Biotechnology (SPIE Tutorial Texts in Optical Engineering Vol. TT55) (Paperback)
I took a short course offered by SPIE in San Jose. This author taught the course and gave out this text as part of course. Consise, no-nonesense introduction for physical scientists (that's me) and engineers. The author is a director at a national lab.

If you want to see how a EE looks at biology this is the book. Just the essentials of biotechn. from someone who stated that the role of biologists in modern biology is highly overated ('course that was wnen no biologists were in the room). DNA/RNA is treated like a network server/clinent operation.

Very unique presepective.
