Book Description

Product Developers have found a wide array of application for thermoplastics in the automotive interior and exterior parts, business machines, medical, telecommunications equipment, microwaveable packaging, appliances, and specialty uses. However, finding a material that can meet consumer demands is no small task. While technological information is readily available regarding the general properties of common thermoplastic material, there is no single authoritative source for building and evaluating new product lines. Written by a top team of international experts, this book will focus only on new and emerging engineering resin property requirements, instead of properties of conventional engineering thermoplastics which are available from polymer producers and compounders. This book will incorporate important chemical, physical, mechanical and applications for engineering thermoplastic in one place, providing clear solutions to evaluate and compare existing product lines and with new and emerging products.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

The expert, detailed coverage needed to build and evaluate new product lines of thermoplastic resins

Written by teams of top international experts from companies such as GE Plastics, Mitsui Chemicals, Toray Resins, LG Chem, Chevron Phillips Chemical, and Solvay Advanced Polymers, this comprehensive guide provides a new insight to the products, properties, and processses of a new class of cyclic thermoplastic resins found in a wide array of applications.

A complete single-volume reference, the Handbook covers the essential chemical, physical, mechanical, and applications aspects of many of the most important thermoplastics, providing researchers with the data necessary to evaluate and compare existing product lines with new and emerging ones. Readers will also find a detailed approach for evaluating some of the most recent breakthroughs, such as:

  • Chemistry of Polymerization
  • Products and Designs Based on Viscoelasticity
  • Processes
