Product Description

- Can you rationally explain why things happen in the world?
- Do you know why people - yourself included - do what they do?
- Do you know why people do good and bad things?
- Do you know why people are the way they are?
- What do you think happens to us after we die?

Fortunately it's not another new faith, though it rationally explains all creeds, and much more... Engineers of Fate provides a rational explanation of how our universe functions, and why it has been evolving since its creation. And it's not scientific either, everything is explained in everyday language.

After reading Engineers of Fate, you'll see the world and your own life in it from a new stance. Too many unexplainable things and events will suddenly make sense to you as the puzzle pieces fall into place. You'll have the answers to all questions above and many more. However you'll only know if they are correct after you leave this world to become an Engineer of Fate yourself!

About the Author

José Henrique Lamensdorf, 53, is Brazilian, from São Paulo, where he lives with his wife and 4 children, ages ranging from 4 to 25. Though his degree is in Industrial Engineering, he first worked in marketing, and later in human resources management. Since 1987 he has been dividing his professional time between HRD consulting and translation. Though he translated several books, Engineers of Fate is the first one he actually wrote himself. His engineering background gave him the urge to seek rationality in things and events. Though he regarded mysticism with skepticism for most of his life, he finally found a rational way to explain it, and set it out in Engineers of Fate.

3.0 out of 5 stars An attempt to explain how the world operates!, May 12, 2006
New Age Spirituality or Science Fiction? Engineers of Fate is a pragmatic and technical look at both the how and the why of our world as told through a question and answer format. Why are we here? How do we create ideas? Why do people act the way they do?

The premise is simple. The "engineers of fate" struck up a conversation with the author directing him to write this book. But what is an engineer of fate? They are a "block of spiritual energy, the living part that remains from what was once a human being, but has already left this world." Some may call this type of energy a spirit guide or an angel. In this conversation with the author, the engineers of fate explain many mysteries about the afterlife, the interactions between people and why people are born and act the way they do. The book strives to not align with any particular religion and claims to transcend religion. It is more an attempt to rationally explain how the world operates.

The book is written in a simplistic language, especially given the complexity of the subject matter. At times awkward sentence construction or clunky word choice reveal that this is a translated work. One of the unfortunate word choices used often is "block of spiritual energy." Lamensdorf intends the word "block" to mean a unit or small piece. However, "block" could also be understood as an obstacle or hindrance to the spiritual energy, which is nearly the opposite of the author's meaning. A bit of editing could clean up these rough edges fairly easily.

The author is clearly excited to share these ideas about the workings of the universe with the reader. The approach is rational and pragmatic and offers a new option to the often airy new age descriptions found in other books on the subject. Whether to believe the book is divinely inspired or totally created by the imagination of the author is up to the individual reader to decide. Either way, it provides interesting food for thought.

Armchair Interviews says: An attempt to explain how the world operates.

3.0 out of 5 stars Can you Engineer your own Fate?, January 8, 2006
Engineers of Fate by J. H. Lamensdorf is a great little book that gives us the author's view and explanation of the universe. Originally written in Portuguese, this book explains how you can see the world and your own life with a different view. If you question why people, including yourself, do certain things that you do, you might find the answers in this book.
