4.0 out of 5 stars Good book of examples for those who need the big picture., April 1, 2000

This review is from: Java Gently for Engineers and Scientists (International Computer Science Series) (Paperback)
If your a student with entry level university calculus and you have some previous programming experince then this java book is for you.

Filled with technical examples that demonstrate the object oriented nature of Java. Topics covered: stream input/output, GUI development, graphing, animation, event handling, exceptions, reading and writing to files, and networking.

This book is not for the intermediate Java developer. But for those who require a step-by-step problem solving methodology in algorithmic development. Abstract engineering principles come alive when these algorithms are developed in the Java environment.
