Pellet Stove 25-PDV,
By Citizen4change "RC" (New Jersey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: England's Stove Pellet Stove/Pedestal 55-Shp22 Wood Heaters (Misc.)
We bought the England's Stove Works 25-PDV pellet stove. If the stove worked properly, it would be a fantastic piece of machinery. Unfortunately, from the beginning, the stove has not worked smoothly. Have had blower issues, auger issues, constant noise, error messages, and consistent shutdowns. To those who claim that product and customer service fabulous, I say, "Wow!" Are you sure?? We've had nothing but heartache right from the beginning. The stove is cleaned and maintained daily to the utmost degree. You'd think the machinery was a Lamborghini instead of a pellet stove. Horrible, horrible, despicable product. So unreliable & problematic. Would never go near this company for endless reasons again. Should have done more homework. The company does not provide technical services (everything is your own out-of-pocket expense even if the parts are under warranty), 24 hour customer service is not available, and no weekend customer service at all. To think that Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace Hardware all carry this product... ONLY in America. Interested in reading more about England's Stove Works? Check out >>>>>>>

Multi Fuel Stove,
By Maddy's Nana "Maddy's Nana" (Minnesota) - See all my reviews
This review is from: England's Stove Pellet Stove/Pedestal 55-Shp22 Wood Heaters (Misc.)
We purchased this in November 08 and have used it since. We live in Minnesota in a old 2 story house and it heats our home very well. The only complaints I have is that we need to shut it down and clean it every day and a couple of times it has shut down on its own. I will tell you that it is really a multifuel as this winter we have burned oats in it as our corn did not dry down enough to be picked this fall. When it is real cold -15 or lower we add some wood pellets to our oats for extra heat. We never have to have the stove over 5 no matter how cold. The truth is last winter when we burned corn we had trouble with it being to warm so we would add wood pellets for less heaat. So I would recommend this stove highly. We did have one opportunity and I do mean opportunity to work with Customer Service and it was wonderful. They did not talk down to me even though I am a woman. Other companies need to learn what real customer service is from this company. I called them because I the stove was making more noise then when we first started using it, about 1 month later and no questions they sent out a new motor and did not even want the other returned. I can not tell you how good they are to work with. As I read in anohter person comment they also called us to make sure we had recieved the part and to see if every thing was ok a week after I called them. Our son bought a American Harvest Stove and has had a lot of trouble with it and US Stoves (manufacturer) customer service is terrible. It took 6 times of waiting online, at least 30 minutes each time, for him to talk to anyone and all he got was the run around. He had his a year before we bought ours that is why we did not go with that brand. Like I said the big negative is that we have to clean it once a day. GREAT Company.

After looking at pellets stoves in my local area and reading reviews on them, I decided to buy a England's Stove from Homedepot.com. I saw other stoves that looked nicer, with fake bricks and bigger windows, but for the price and excellent reviews I choice this stove. They said that customer service was great and let me tell you they are. I called several times for stupid reasons and the staff was so nice and helpful(and spoke English which was great for me). The stove also comes with a instructional video, which was wonderful when my husband had to change the gaskets and do the yearly maintenance. I love my stove and the heat it gives me during the winter months, I live on a cement slab and it really helps. Thank you England Stove.

I got my stove in August 2008, I had issues with a couple wires that ran too close from a metal flange where due to heat It melted the wires causing a short.
Customer service was excellent, they replaced all damaged parts under warranty no questions asked! Customer service called at my home and mobile phone to make sure all was OK, you just dont get this type of service anymore! Emails were also exchanged and detail explanation send, It just dont get any better than that. Very happy with the heat output, Its plenty of heat for a 1800 sq ft colonial type home. Thanks for a great value and service!! I will be getting a second unit for my bsmt next year!

Great Product,

This is a very good product. I bought the 25-PDVC for my first homes basement. On setting 2 it was able to keep the entire basement warm. I'm talking 75 degrees warm. That basement was 1000 sq ft. Now we've moved into our new home and bought the 25-PDV for the basement. This house has a 1900 sq ft. basement. Once again What a GREAT product, but not out of the box unfortunately. Once installed we fired it up. After about an hour the pellets stopped feeding. The upper auger had seized. We called customer support and had about a 15 minute wait. Once a live person answered and I explained the problem it was about 25 minutes worth of work to clear the jam and reset all. It turns out the metering plate was not set correctly from the factory. It should be between half open and fully back. (Once you see it you'll understand)
The unit is very easy to understand and perform maintenance on. The telephone tech stayed on the phone with me through the entire operation. So if you're on hold for a long time I can understand it. Their helping other customers. That's what I call customer service. Not once did he try to hurry me along or say they had other customers waiting. He was genuinely interested in solving my issue regardless of the time involved! The unit can be worked on using just basic tools. (Socket set, screwdrivers, and wrench) I am glad to say that since the initial problem it has worked flawlessly. We have used it here and there since working on it and now every night this week due to the temps dipping into the 20's. I held off on my review to insure that all was well and working as advertised. Now I can say with confidence once again... "What a GREAT Product!" I'd buy another one in a heartbeat! Lastly. I would have given it 5 stars but If you've got to work on it within the first week of set up I've got to deduct something

If you are looking for service this is NOT the product for you. My stove died after only 3 weeks. Upon contacting englander cust. service, or I should say WAITING to contact, 45 minutes on hold..........I was told I would have to do some re wiring. It was a fiasco to say the least. Thankfully I keep my paperwork and I returned it. Save yourself some frustration. This was not worth the powder to blow it away.I now own a breckwell. I would not recommend englander to my enemies.

My Englander is a 1996 model. I have replaced the glass(mica) once, along with replacing the seal. I have a stove vacuum with steel hose which I use to clean it, sometimes once a day. I have let the stove go for a week without cleaning it with no problems at all. I did however use a gardening shovel to move the clinklers from the burn pot to the ash area. I only wish it had an ash pan. I went from spending $5200.00 per year for fuel oil to $3200.00 per year with 220 v electric baseboard. I then put in a wood burner. What a mess and hassle that was. It did however cut my bill down to $1100.00 per year. My dad talked me into trying a pellet burner. I got this one and use Somerset pellets from Tractor Supply at $199.95/ton. I now spend $750.00 per year for heating this drafty old two story 1800 sq. ft. farm house and it is so so so much cleaner. I have never had one minute of trouble with this stove. The fans make about the same noise as my forced air wood stove. My dad has a Bixby super high end multi fuel, electrically controlled, pile of overpriced yet aesthetically pleasing, junk. One season old and broken. Customer service with Bixby? Forget it!
