I found this book very helpful in the identification of antique English china. Obviously, it does not cover everything, but there are many unusual items listed that are no longer made. Beautiful photography.

The glossary of terms in the front is excellent. The variety of everyday items is very good. Tons of photos. But for a 2008 book to have some out of focus pictures is inexcusable (didn't anyone suggest Photoshop?). I don't think it will be of concern to collectors, just people like me who want to enjoy the photo and do not collect. Let me make it clear that my lower rating is a warning to people who want to view the pictures that some, not a majority, are disappointing. To those of you buying the book for identification or collecting this should not deter you. There are 3-4 photos roughly 3"x3" per page. Currently you can buy it for around $10 so that is a great price.

Key to collections strong in glassware collecting is Mary Frank Gaston's ENGLISH CHINA: PATTERNS & PIECES, a collector's handbook pairing lovely color photos of pieces and sets with an arrangement by type of English chinaware for quick reference. From cow creamers to egg stands and pitchers, makers and values are quick to locate, identify and make for a fine collector's reference.
