English Phonetics and Phonology Audio CD: A Practical Course
Buy it together with the book: without it is pretty useless. The course is very technical but it has a very good approach to phonetics.

extremely disappointed
I bought this in good faith thinking that the $30 CD was a complete package with instructions as part of the CD. I open the CD and find out that I have to spend another $23 to buy the book to understand the lessons on the CD. And since the CD is opened, I cannot return it. The description of the product is incomplete and misleading. I had no intentions of spending...

I bought this in good faith thinking that the $30 CD was a complete package with instructions as part of the CD. I open the CD and find out that I have to spend another $23 to buy the book to understand the lessons on the CD. And since the CD is opened, I cannot return it. The description of the product is incomplete and misleading. I had no intentions of spending upwards of $60 and would have chosen a complete package for less money.

Separate buys- not a good way to market a book on Phonetics,

The book ' Phonetics and Phonology' by Peter Roach is a good buy for people who are serious about learning and teaching phonology. Unfortunately, the book is not sold with the CD. This firstly has a cost implication and secondly, the book is of no use without the CD and vice versa.
The CD is not available on the Amazon.co.uk website. so one has to order the CD from the Amazon.com website, and is dispatched from the USA. This tends to keep customers in Europe waiting till eternity. I just hope the book and the CD are sold together at a competitive price in the future.

I found this course to be practical and delightful. It is no non-sense and complete. I have found in just a few practice sessions with the material how my verbal usage has changed and improved. It is my hope that materials like these will raise the level of common English to the level of mastery and beauty that it desereves.
