English-Russian Parallel Bible (Leather Bound)

There are three of these Bibles on Amazon, one with hard cover, this one with "bonded leather", and one with genuine leather. The dimensions are roughly 9.5" x 6.5" x 1.5". It follows the English KJV order of the New Testament. The verses are directly parallel (straight across from one anther). English is in the left column, Russian in the right. There are a few places in the Old Testament where the English KJV and Russian Synodal version have different chapter/verse numbers... in these spots, this Bible uses the English numbering, but puts the Russian chapter/verse in parenthesis. For any wondering, there are no marginal references, maps, glossary, or concordances... Besides the 2 Bibles, there is a short note from the publisher, and the names and order of the Old and New Testament books - that's it. There are 6 blank pages at the end of the Bible - a great spot for words or phrases you especially want to remember.

This is an excellent Russian / English Bible for someone attending a Russian Church or traveling to a land where Russian is spoken (Russia, Ukraine, etc.). It is a little large for my preference.

It features the English King James Version and the Russian Synoid translation which are based on the same Old Testament Hebrew and New Testament Greek texts. I am not a huge fan of the King James Version but I have found that this version of the Bible most used in Russian Churches (both Orthodox and Protestant.

The binding and bonded leather of the bible is very nice. I purchased this bible for my wife whose 1st language is Russian. Unfortunately it seems as if the Russian bible is translated directly from the original text from 1,000 years ago. My wife often tells me that it is difficult to read and understand since it is like reading an acient manuscript. Even with the paralell version of the KJV she still cannot fully comprehend the writings. I wish there was an NIV version for Russians.
I would not suggest this Bible to any new persons who are just learning about Christ. If you can find an NIV version of the Russian bible I would recommend purchasing that one to avoid the furstrations I see my wife enduring.
