The book-only version of this self-teaching program was published by Barron's in Fall 2000. Now, as an option, the book is available with four audiocassettes that help Russian speakers cope with American English pronunciation and listening comprehension. The course is informal, presenting fundamentals of vocabulary, grammar, and conversational English. It also includes puzzles, language games, and vocabulary flashcards on perforated card stock, which can be removed from the book. Here is an excellent introduction to informal English for students, travelers, and older children. The program comes in a sturdy plastic travel case.

This is a good resource for those newly immigrated to America. It has a lot of practical, everyday words and phrases like pronoums, contractions, numbers, prepositions, etc. It really helped my wife begin to learn English, and I would recommend it.
