5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, thin pamphlet that shows exactly what it says it does., December 24, 2009

This review is from: English Royal Signatures (Public Record Office Museum Pamphlets, No. 4)) (Paperback)
Simply put, it is a 8.5x11"-ish pamphlet that collects the signatures of the reigning English kings and queens since Richard II (1377-1399). There's a bit of explanatory text at the beginning to fill it out a bit more, but really, that is all this is -- just one or two signatures per monarch all on a few pages. It's about 20 pages long soaking wet. As to the question of how worthwhile it is, the work is a curiosity more than anything else. Someone who really adores the English nobility would probably like it quite a bit; as a gift idea, I think it'd be stellar for just the right person. You sure won't find this in the mega-bookstores. I caught it on sale somewhere online years ago as an overrun and thought it was just brilliant -- what a cute idea, collecting signatures like that! One thing I did like was how you could tell a bit about each monarch through his or her signature, Elizabeth I especially.
