The pricetag on this book is only a small reflection of its true value. For any Swahili/English scholar there is no better work. It is not only comprehensive, but also well laid-out and simple to use. It is invaluable for any translational purposes or for reading a Swahili or English Text if you happen to be a first language speaker of the alternate language.

This is *the* standard as English-Swahili print dictionaries go. Any student of Swahili who plans to go beyond the second year of study should forget about other dictionaries (which are fine for beginning students) and purchase this one, along with its companion - the Swahili-English dictionary also published by TUKI.

The TUKI dictionaries are the best Swahili dictionaries available with lots of up to date references, and guides to noun classes etc.
However, on the streets of Dar-es-Salaam they sell for about ($$$).I only hope it is going to the University of Dar-es-Salaam and not elsewhere.
