There are plenty of Advanced Grammar Books, Advanced Readings, etcetera. But just a few publications deal with Advanced Vocabulary. This is a great choice for us, non-native speakers. The explanations are simple and clear, and the examples are great! It is updated, precise and fun...! If you thought you'd had enough with your vocabulary books, think twice!! This is a must-have one-of-a-kind book...!

I have previewed the contents of this book downloading a scanned copy online (fake ebook). Definitely, if you are seriously trying to study/learn English I wouldn't think twice of buying the genuine printed version. Who is familiar with Cambridge's "In Use" series will not regret paying us$30 to a book+cd-rom (the same price charged by an hour of private lesson).
The book is far to be a dictionary, it focus on the appropriate usage of words in circumstantial forms also the construction of a sophisticated lexicon.
If you feel stuck by your English vocabulary it is time to go further!

Well, English is my second language. This book includes plenty of topics enough for english learner to further understand the usage of vocabularies in a much more down-to-earth level. However, some explanations are too basic for learning, you better re-check those meanings with a reliable dictionary.
keep on learning! : )

The book is very useful, but the CD doesn't work.
Thinking of a problem with my copy, I tried replacing it with amazon (very quick!) but the new one has the same problem, the system to protect it, doesn't allow it to run.
Anyway I keep the book and I am going to try contact McGraw & Hill to see if they have any solution!

This is a great book not only for those whose English is not their first language. Like every other book from the "English Vocabulary" series it contains exercises with key and an index. It also includes a good foreword section explaining the strategies for learning, word meanings and how to make the most of this book. Each section of the book is based on a prticular topic such as for instance "Relationships - problems", "British politics" or "Number: statistics and assessing quantity" with an article or a text and some useful explanatory notes and then the exercises section. There are 100 units of vocabulary reference and practice.
Obviously a good, at least intermediate level is required but in my opinion people who have a good command of grammar and look forward to enhance their technical vocabulary (business in this instance), especially foreign business students should definitely buy this book.
The experience of the Cambridge University Press speaks for itself once again. A brilliant self-study book.
