A tensely gripping story of psychological suspense,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Englishman's Wife (Paperback)
The Englishman's Wife by Louis Sanders is a deftly literate novel which explores the dark aspects of jealousy and paranoia that so often oppress human relationships. When John, a freelance writer, is unable to find work, vicious ruminations and suspicions of infidelity congregate within his mind, drawing inevitably and corrosively to ruthless conclusions. The Englishman's Wife is commended to sophisticated readers as being a superbly crafted and tensely gripping story of psychological suspense. Also highly recommended is Louis Sanders' debut novel, Death In The Dordogne (185242673X, $13.00).

The characters in the book were unlikeable without any redemptive qualities and I found the story to be dark and depressing.
