5.0 out of 5 stars Progressive Metal with Latin/Hispanic Roots
Ill Nino again shows that latin music is not limited to Hip Hop, Pop, Rap or even Reggaton. With lyrics crossing both in Spanish and English you get a rich mix of deep meaning and heart felt songs. Unlike one reviewer who mentioned the music was tribal percussion...which it is NOT. The percussion grabs from a lot of hispanic cultures and sounds. Influences from Salsa...

Man I was really let down by this cd. there was nothing on this that blew me away. It does have SOME good songs on it, but not enough.Tracks 1,2, and 3 are good and then it goes down hill from there. Kellogs, bombs, and crackerjacks is cool and thats about it. if you want to check this band out, check out confession or one nation underground, or the first album...

5.0 out of 5 stars Progressive Metal with Latin/Hispanic Roots, April 11, 2008
This review is from: Enigma (Audio CD)
Ill Nino again shows that latin music is not limited to Hip Hop, Pop, Rap or even Reggaton. With lyrics crossing both in Spanish and English you get a rich mix of deep meaning and heart felt songs. Unlike one reviewer who mentioned the music was tribal percussion...which it is NOT. The percussion grabs from a lot of hispanic cultures and sounds. Influences from Salsa (Puerto Rican), Merenge (Cuban), Bachata (Dominican) even Flamenco(Spain)which is Spanish guitar, permiate the sound. If you don't know those styles of music then it would really help you appreciate if you listening to such music then get back to ILL NINO. You'll see what I mean. Other influences come from Central and South American Guitar as well...and more. They are inspired and grab from all flavors of latin music... and yet again it shows that Latins and Latin music can go anywhere to breath life into a style of music and make it something new!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Roots bloody roots, March 11, 2008

Ill Nino's Enigma is finally released after being delayed countless times since last summer, and i was almost about to give up on it. Fortunately, i didnt and ill nino delievers. Bringing in more of the tribal percussion form the acoustic ep, Enigma is both brutal, and artistic. tracks like Compulsion Of Virus And Fever, March against Me, and Finger Painting show off the sound, while giving direhard fans enough nostalgia to get into it. Was it worth the wait? Yes, and if this album is any indication, Ill Nino have found their roots, and their very bloody.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait, April 5, 2008

This album steps up the aggression a tad from previous efforts. Certainly a must have for old Ill Nino fans. The production quality is flawless, many effects, tribal percussion, classical guitar picking arrangements, fused with heavily distorted metal cuts makes for a very deep, multi-layered, rich sound. Christian's usual epic sounding vocals on the ballads, as well as gut turning, scratchy screams on the heavier stuff. I wouldn't call it incredibly innovative, but very solid and more of the formula that has given this band it's longevity and cemented place in today's metal/nu metal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Roots, dead on my friend.....Wait till the Skinlab comes out...., April 15, 2008

...A cool record that certainly does remind of Roots era Sepultura....glad I bought it as there's not too many bands doing the brutal approach full on, other than Skinlab....heard an advance copy of the SkinnedAlive live CD they have coming up...My god what a brutal sounding recording. I don't think anyone has released anything that heavy, live, ever.

I love ill nino & they have made another great album. It's some of their best work, christian has come so far with his vocals since Revolution & Confession. And the percussion seems to really stand out on this album. My favorite tracks are "Pieces of The Sun" "March Against Me" & "Finger Painting (With The Enemy)" There aint no bad track on this album. Then again ill nino has never done a bad song. Be sure to get this cd!!! And if you love it, check out their newest cd "Dead New World"

Very catchy, very energetic, simply put...awesome! Always been a fan of Ill Nino and every CD they come out with they never cease to amaze me with their explosive hard rock sounds! I like sound more than lyrics but they mix both pretty well! A must get if u like loud explosive spine-tingling hard rock or metal!

This review is from: Enigma (Audio CD)
Following all the previous albums this does not hold back from what i have heard before. This is probably one of there best efforts to date. The percussion was done very tastefully with a somewhat new vibe. This album will NOT disappoint. A true must. 5 stars hands down. great work

This cd is good. I have heard a lot of people try to do what Ill Nino does, but they just seem to do it better than everyone else. Good stuff.
