5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful synth pop music for the romanticly inclined., June 29, 2007

Edge Of Dawn is a side prodject from Seabound frontman Frank Spinath. In some ways EOD is simulur to Seabound, but all in all, though they are related, they are quite different, kinda like syblings. This album is elegant, beautiful, depressing synth pop music. There is absolutely nothing gothic or industrial about this at all. EOD's 'Enjoy The Fall' is a downbeat romantic drama with occasional moments of upbeat dance electronica that some may consider to be future pop. The songs are dressed up beautifully and the production is verry impressive. A good album to buy if your a fan of bands like Seabound, Melotron, Depeche Mode, New Order, Junior Boys, Indochine, And One, Wolfsheim, Mesh, or Shades Of Grey.

4.0 out of 5 stars Verry Nice., May 29, 2007

This album is quite pretty and well done. The music is certainly leaning on the synth pop side....kinda And One meets Seabound (Seabound is involved here by the way). The best thing about this album is the production value and the synth style. Did I say Pretty? Yes, It's verry pretty. I love it!

When one asks about a band and someone utters the words "side project" in return, many a prospective crowd seems to hush because the idea of side projects oftentimes conjures up ugly things. The fractures in bands we loved as children, the idea of one person wanting to express themselves when the whole of an idea has been working; the elements of a band within a band are oftentimes only pieces of a puzzle unwinding in these words, and seeing this take place is sometimes like bearing witness to even the worst type of trainwrecks. When it comes to Edge of Dawn and what Seabound's frontman has been able to accomplish, however, it brings a different feeling to the drawing board and offers not only a great diversion from Seabound but also a different take on the things that makes Seabound great. Here you have the vocals that sound so lush and rich, distinctive from the crowd, but you have a different type of sound playing against that backdrop and I find I really like the way that feels.
In this audio playground, the meaning here seems like an emotive "more."

Where Seabound seems more involved with a true type of EBM, taking on the dancefloor and offering lyrics that work like hindsight for those really wanting to find them, Edge of Dawn is a slower type of silicate and makes the message the frontrunner. That means you sometimes have beats that come running and sometimes you have tempos that border between EBM and a popishly-euphoric blend of dancefloor and 80s music, but the message - the message seems to live in the voice of the band. That's what I really like about Edge of Dawn and their two releases; both have this sound that carries meaning in them and both have this way of conveying themselves that you really don't see in EBM.
Personally, I find the things built here beautiful.
From the vocal stylizations of Seabound with a little additive; I find it there.

If you are a fan of Seabound then this will undoubtedly fit the proverbial bill, and if you are a fan of the EBM platform you will undoubtedly find something inside this shell. Even if you don't like EBM but enjoy synth, electronica, or the thousand other labels this type of music wears, this could be something for you to try on. The Flight (LUX) has some beautiful songs on it worth checking into as well, and both albums are featured on Metropolis-Records and have samples that can be checked out.
I recommend this as more than a pastime glance, saying that fans of the sound might even enjoy this as a "look before you leap" kind of buy.
