You Put Backstreet Boys in my Lonestar!,
By Don Thomason (Dunbar, KY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Enjoy the Ride (Audio CD)
These five pups look like a country brand of New Kids on the Block (and they sound like it on the ballad "All I Wanna Do" with its switching, your-turn-to-have-the-girls-scream-at-you lead vocals). With ten -- count `em, ten -- producers on the album, you wonder how could this be anything but a mess with that many cooks in the pot? The whole thing feels like a calculated effort to cross Lonestar (Richie McDonald even co-wrote one song) with the Backsteet Boys; most of the songs here are emotion-dripping love songs like the Backstreeters do. If this kind of hybrid interests you, check it out; if not, pass.

I listen to a whole plethra of styles of music, country not being one of my particular faves. One day I was over at a friend's house and he popped in this CD. I saw the cover and was like, "great a boy band", and then thought, "Oh worse, country". I don't really like country aimed at the younger generation as I normally feel they don't really have much to say in the lyrics, but I just couldn't help falling in love with this group. They have great uptempo-can't-help-but-dance stuff like All I wanna do; love songs like She's like a child and You(one of my faves), and sad songs that make me wanna cry(not like I ever would ;) ) like Is she gone(another fave). One of the very few country, or any style for that matter that makes me wanna sing out loud(Loud enough to make my neighbors bang on the walls) *^_^*

I usually am not a HUGE fan of country. Every now and then I hear a song I love, but knowing I won't many of the other songs from the Artist, I don't go and buy the CD. The reason I bought Marshall Dyllon was because I saw that one of their members was my favorite from the TV show Making the Band. I bought the CD, and I LOVE it!!! There is not a single song on there I don't like. They have great harmony. And Live it up can get anyone in a great mood! Go buy the CD today and while you are at it pick up Revelation by 98 Degrees....totally different music but still a great CD!!!

I cannot say enough about this CD. I love it more than I thought I would. Can't wait to hear more from these guys. I sure wish it had been marketed better though. You don't hear much about them and I think if they had more exposure, they would sell more CD's. LOVE IT! PLEASE bring us more music videos! (Make sure to let your CD run out to hear the hidden song).

I listen to every kind of music possible and I love country. I was at the Dansville Balloon Festival to hear Phil Vassar and all of a sudden these five guys came out that I'd never heard of and I just said to myself "Oh great a boy band" just kind of blowing them off. Then they started to sing and I was amazed. They have the most beautiful harmony I have ever heard in my entire life. They have a great balance when they sing. The C.D. has some romantic songs and some sad songs and then there are a few songs that just make you smile. The first time I listened to "Live It Up" after I bought the C.D. I just smiled. It's just such a happy song, it made me want to sing. There are songs for every mood I'm ever in.I love the C.D. It is so different from other country. I am a huge Marshall Dyllon fan, I love them

I get a kick out of the many people who say country music should basically remain redneck and closed minded. That is so ridiculous!! People, get out of your time warp and realize music like everything in this world, evolves over time!!! Country Fans seem to be overall the most closed minded people alive! That said, I find this debut cd by MARSHALL DYLLON to be a complete joy from the opening track to the hidden track after song 12 on the album....an acapella version of THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER. These guys recently opened for JoDee Messina. I saw the show and did not know who they were. After their impressive live performance, I went out and bought the cd. It is an awesome collection of songs from a promising new group! I look forward to ENJOYING THEIR SECOND RIDE!!!! Way to go guys!- David in California!

Country + N'SYNC = Marshall Dyllon,

Before I say anything I think it is fair to say that I should actually give this album 2.5 stars, but I cut them some slack and rounded it up to 3. I bought this CD on a whim and out of sheer curiosity, noticing that the producers of Diamond Rio, Deana Carter, as well as Phil Vassar were among those who worked on the album. I thought that with these three members of country music greatness producing the band, it had to be good. Boy was I wrong! With the exception of the single, "Live It Up," "God Bless This Town," and "You," I had a really hard time finding aspects of this CD that I liked. One of the things that I really dislike about the music business today is the lack of originality among performers. This is especially prevalent in country music. It seems that everyone is trying to capitalize on the success of pop artists such as Faith Hill, NSYNC, and Britney Spears instead of trying to create their own style of music. These guys are no exception. I like the songs that I mentioned because they are not sappy songs about lovesick guys; they include unique, original ideas that I rarely hear in music today. Conclusively, I am sure that Marshall Dyllon will be quite successful in creating a multitude of fans among younger teenage girls, but they have failed to impress me. For a truly great country band, check out Diamond Rio's new album "One More Day."

I just received this CD and loved it, especially "Is She Gone", "God Bless This Town" and "Special Girl". There is a song for everyone. I highly recommend it. I love the way they sing in five-part harmony. If you would like to see the videos run the enhanced CD on your computer. I have known Todd Michael Sansom for the last 14 years. He's a country boy from Stanardville Virginia. And I also would like to thank Kenny Rogers Dreamcatcher Records for creating this dream of a group. Marshall Dyllon Enjoy The RIDE.
