US cd single of new remixes for Classic songs., December 3, 2004
This review is from: Enjoy The Silence 04 (Audio CD)
This is the cd single for the US release of "Enjoy The Silence 04" and if you didn't tell me that a couple of the mixes are new I would swear that they would be the same as the original mixes. The Ewan Pearson and Richard X mixes are the ones I am talking about. The new mixes are not as aggressive as the newer mixes done for classic songs by Yaz, Information Society and other artists of the like. These mixes range from a slight house mix (Timo Maas) to electro driven ones (Ewan Pearson & Richard X) to a more aggressive rock slant by Mike Shinoda . Also included are the new house mixes for "World In My Eyes" and " Something To Do". Both are also very well done. Here is the track listing: Enjoy The Silence: 1- Mike Shinoda Reinterpretation Mix (3:32) 2- Timo Maas Extended Mix (8:42) 3- Ewan Pearson Extended Remix (8:39) 4- Richard X Extended Mix (8:22) World In My Eyes: 5- Cicada Mix (6:18) Something To Do: 6- Black Strobe Remix (7:11)-- which is a dub mix. Overall a great set of new mixes of a classic band and song. A++++ for me.

Re-releasing "Enjoy the Silence" was a risky move for Depeche Mode to make..., November 14, 2007
This review is from: Enjoy The Silence 04 (Audio CD)
This review was originally written by my husband, Daniel Aeschliman, who has given me permission to post it here: Rereleasing "Enjoy The Silence" was a rather risky move for Depeche Mode to make. This is, after all, one of the biggest hits in their catalog, one of the largest fan favorite songs, and a track that is frequently cited by many fans as the song that got them into the band (myself included). The biggest disappointment (outside of the fact that they STILL have yet to release a CD version of the mix in the original music video) is the fact that many of the new mixes of "Enjoy The Silence" were simply allowed to drag on too long. The new single version mixed by Mike Shinoda is the only mix that clocks in UNDER eight minutes long; while I like some of what I hear in the Ewan Pearson and Richard X mixes, the shorter UK versions are superior to these behemoths. What does finally redeem this single is actually not even a mix of "Enjoy The Silence" but "World In My Eyes" - a song which has never really gotten remixed to it's full potential. The Cicada mix of "World In My Eyes" is easily one of the best versions of the song since the original album version and the Devotional tour rendition. Unfortunately, the disc closes on a very sour note with a very poor remix of "Something To Do" - a song that had a much better remix (the "Metalmix") about twenty years ago.

Enjoy the REMIX, January 4, 2005
This review is from: Enjoy The Silence 04 (Audio CD)
Being a fan of Depeche Mode for as long as I can remember (waking up after a sleep over in the 80's on a side walk for tickets to a concert, but did the same for many Eurythmics, C. Club, Duran Duran etc...) DM has always had a way to JUMP into your face with a remix collection. This is one CD maxi I am happy to own. The Timo Mass Mix is great, the E Pearson Mix is great, those are the best of the best. The other 2 remixes are just as great. In early 2004, FAR prior to this CD release "Halo the Unreleased (Illicit Club Mix)" was a promo edition about 9 min long was sent to me, with a letter of anticipation of other older hits remixed to TODAY's standards 2004 and 2005, however Halo is on the "PURPLE COVER 2004" maxi it is short yet sweet remixed by GoldFrapp, So it possible the Illicit Mix will be released, also a must have, and will save you $$$ is the audio CD By DM a 3 Cd disc set has all of what you need "ASIN # B00063MCK2" remixes by today's DJ's, and unreleased mixes. I highy would get THE 3 disc set it is well worth it, hope this is of help. Jason Prof. DJ
