Book Description

September 10, 2008

“Look for the one I am sending you…”

An unusual message is popping up in unexpected places around the world—in radio commercials, movies, TV shows, even within the pages of the New York Times. Believing that someone is playing an elaborate prank, FCC agent Gene Manford and FBI agent Katherine Rooney begin an investigation. But nothing in their training has prepared them for what they are about to encounter…

A contemporary novel dealing with real spiritual warfare issues, Enoch will take you on a mind-bending, fast-paced journey through a story of good versus evil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down, October 22, 2008
This review is from: Enoch: He lived long ago. He never died. Now the most powerful woman in the world is trying to own him (Paperback)
Alton Gansky is the master of on-the-edge, what-if fiction, and this is his best work yet. It features a character based on the Biblical Enoch, the man who didn't die, now returned to earth to deliver a message, a message that gives pause to all who hear it. There's plenty of action, a number of heart-tugging moments, building suspense, and a denouement that kept me reading long after my bedtime. It's rare that I say of a book, "I couldn't put it down," but this is one of those times.
The book is doesn't hit the reader over the head with the message of Christianity. It simply makes him think. And, after all, isn't that what books should really do?

4.0 out of 5 stars Who is this stranger in a strange place..., November 24, 2008
This review is from: Enoch: He lived long ago. He never died. Now the most powerful woman in the world is trying to own him (Paperback)
I have always been fascinated by the story of Enoch - the man who walked with God and never died... I was excited to read this book. I had never read a book by Alton Gansky but had heard good things so I wondered what he would do with this character. Overall I thought this was a really good book. Characters were well developed even when some of them were on the scene for a short time. Scenes were set apart and then woven together from different perspectives. There is the mystery of who this stranger is and what he is doing here... miracles are happening - why? Without giving anything away, I just want to say that there were only a couple things that bothered me. One, the cover tag line says,

"He lived long ago. He never died. Now the most powerful woman in the world is trying to own him..."

I just don't think this statement represented the book very well. And secondly, I just thought it wrapped up a little too quickly. But overall, I really enjoyed this book and will be looking for more books by this author.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bored!!!, November 24, 2009
This review is from: Enoch: He lived long ago. He never died. Now the most powerful woman in the world is trying to own him (Paperback)
This was my first experience reading Gansky. After reading some of the reviews from this book and his other books, I decided to buy it and was excited to get started. It was not but a few chapters into the book that I started to become bored with it. I felt the plot was unrealistic and very thin in detail. People are seeing messages in different forms of media, film, newspaper, radio, etc. and all they have on the case is one FBI agent and an FCC investigator???? Maybe I am over analyzing here but it just wasn't credible to me. If this were to occur today, especially post 9/11, I know there would be mass hysteria and a boat load of investigators working on the phenomenon, not just two. I know it was a key portion of the book, but I hated the whole false church and "Mary-Martha" portion of the plot. I just didn't like it and was plain bored to death. Unfortunately, I forced myself to finish the book hoping for some hidden redemption. It never came!
