This review is from: Enochian Magic: A Practical Manual: The Angelic Language Revealed (Llewellyn's High Magick Series) (Paperback)
Enochian is a horribly complicated subject. Even within the field of magick, it remains the province of specialists. The vast majority of people avoid it, and stick with the more popular subjects of Qabala, Tarot, Astrology, etc. Enochian itself is highly rewarding to study. But you really need to have several years worth of magickal PRACTICE under your belt before you will be ready for even a beginner's book on the subject. Now having said all of that, Llewellyn books (with a few notable exceptions),are notorious for being full of fluff, and aimed at the "gee whiz we're really new age" crowd. Not really what you want for such a complex subject as Enochian. I bought several of Schueler's books before knowing any better. And I am convinced that he has put as little time as possible into his research. And zero time into actual practice. Whole sections of his books are lifted straight out of other books, and passed off as his own material. I'm surprised he hasn't been sued. As another reviewer notes, he doesn't even understand the point of the Hexagram ritual, and his rearrangement of it demonstrates this. Pass this book up. It's another one of those supposed "practical manuals" written by an arm-chair magician. There are better books out there by Duquette, Tyson and James. 'A True and Faithful Relation' by Casaubon is also fascinating to study for the advanced student.

Informative but "compiled",

This review is from: Enochian Magic: A Practical Manual: The Angelic Language Revealed (Llewellyn's High Magick Series) (Paperback)
This book is full of informations, but many of them are taken from other books and not from autors own expirience. This is most obvious in the chapter about projection into Aethyrs, which is adapted from A.C. "Vision and Voice".

Good Practical manual, but you definitely need to be well versed in magic theory and practice way beforehand.
