Book Description

September 1, 2011
This is the 20th Anniversary edition of the book which contains new material by Lon Milo DuQuette!

This book gives the student immediate access to the world's most powerful yet misunderstood system of Magick. Crowley's work on the Enochian system was originally published in The Equinox, his 10-voulme journal of Scientific Illuminism. It was the launching pad for all that followed. Originally published in 1912, it rent the veil of the Inner Order of the Golden Dawn and revealed its most precious jewel for all to see. Lon Milo DuQuette is a recognized expert on Enochian Magick who brings four decades of practical experience in the field to show you how to start using this powerful system right now.

It is the aim of this book to offer in a practical format, Liber LXXXIV vel Chanokh, Crowley's original presentation of basic Enochiana, and make it immediately useful for the student who wishes to make use of it now. This coupled with Israel Regardie's fine Enochian Dictionary and pronunciation guide provides the reader with the minimum material necessary to get started. For the advanced student it offers practical instructions and the opportunity to re-evaluate the original information that the greatest magician of the 20th Century felt was most necessary to master first.

About the Author

Aleister Crowley (1875-1947), also known as The Great Beast and the Wickedest Man in the World, was one of the most profound students of Magick, Qabalah and Yoga. His vast influence reaches through all modern occultism. He is widely recognized as the first Western investigator to give initiation a truly scientific method. In reconciling occultism to physical science, mathematics and philosophy, Crowley achieved a lasting synthesis that remains unsurpassed for depth of insight and comprehensiveness.

Lon Milo DuQuette is a noted ceremonial magician who has taught extensively in the areas of Magick, Mysticism and Tarot. He is a well-known author of numerous books on Magick, Qabalah, Tarot, and other Occult subjects.

This second revised edition of the book was edited by David Cherubim from the Aleister Crowley Foundation.

5.0 out of 5 stars CROWLEY-DUQUETTE-HYATT, an Unholy Trinity January 11, 2002
Format:Paperback
Aleister Crowley was called a black magician and the "wickedest man in the world." He was also called a holy-man, prophet, and Logos of the Aeon. In either case, he was the most brilliant and prolific philosopher magicians of the 20th Century. His greatest failing (if you can call it a failing) was the fact that he wrote as if he expected his readers were as educated, brilliant, and insightful as he. (He also mistakenly thought they could all figure out when he was kidding.)

I'm no dummy, and it took me several years, lots of reference books, and a good deal of spiritual courage before I could begin to appreciate Crowley and his works. Helping to light my way through the dark tangles of Crowleyana were two books that were amazingly easy to understand, THE ENOCHIAN WORLD OF ALEISTER CROWLEY, and ALEISTER CROWLEY'S ILLUSTRATED GOETIA. These little gems were written with the expressed purpose of making Crowley's works on Enochian and Goetic magick comprehensible and usable.

I don't know what gods conspired to bring Lon Milo Duquette and Christopher S. Hyatt, Ph.D together as a writing team, but I thank them. Both these gentlemen are prolific authors and famous in their own right, (just search their names on Amazon.com). Together with Crowley, however, they become an Unholy Trinity of modern magick.

If you would actually like to perform magick instead of just reading about it, read both these little books now. Do I sound impressed? I am.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide into Enochian July 21, 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This is an excellent little book! It takes the complexity of the Enochian system and makes it usable. I can say that this is something many other books on the subject fail to accomplish. Hyatt and Duquette are both experienced and practicing magicians, which instantly comes across in this work, with its "dare to be lazy" attitude. Through experience of my own, I can tell you what the two trademarks of all true magicians are: 1)The ability to laugh, even at the worst horrors, and 2)The ability to throw jargon out the door and discern the heart of every matter while never taking any matter too seriously. The simple reason for these abilities is that by actually doing magick and actually experiencing the magickal universe instead of merely reading about it, these abilities are automatically developed. These are abilities that Hyatt and Duquette both possess, and it sets the tone for this book. If you study its contents, you WILL understand the enochian system, and if you practice its rituals, you WILL be successful, given that you have at least some prior experience in magick. Be forewarned that this is advanced magick, and requires one to be proficient in the basic abilities. The methods taught here are powerful, utilising the potencies of Sex Magick. Enochian Magick in general should not be dabbled with without a thorough foundation. Doing so will either prove useless or expose the dabbler to very real dangers, depending on that person's innate psychic ability. Regardless of what some authors claim, these forces are more than mere phantoms of the mind. They act in a very independent and objective way upon the magician's reality. In other words, they might have other agendas than those of the naive apprentice, and will express these agendas quite violently if their "master" fails to muster the strength to command otherwise. In having said that, I leave the rest over to Hyatt and Duquette. After this the rest is between you and the angels of Enochian Magick. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Summon the Angels of Enoch December 2, 1999
Format:Paperback
Hyatt and Duquette put together a splendid ritual using Enochian keys and calls based on Crowley's essay. It explains the charts and tables, that Crowley 'hid' from view, in which, Hyatt and Duquette point out its mystery and explain it in plain English. Somewhat confusing in how to set up the ritual and its entire process, but overall its a clear and concise formula. One should be forewarned, however, that performing these rituals is not to be taken lightly nor to do spontaneously the moment finishing the book. As the authors condone, read it, understand it and its implications: meditate.
