I believe that this book is a great companion to Robert Allen's Nothing Down. The fact that Allen wrote the forward should tell you how Allen feels about this book. Are You Dumb Enough To Be Rich is updated for the times and offers fresh material. I like the fact that the author offers information on tax liens and discounted mortgages as well. Are You Dumb Enough To Be Rich is a great book. You would be dumb not to buy it and use it. Great book. Highly recommended.

Bill Barnett offers non-stop suggestions throughout the entire book on how to improve your ability to buy, rehab-if-necessary, and market real estate. I've been a real estate investor for over 40 years and I learned an amazing number of new techniques and ideas by simply reading this book. I've also had the pleasure of meeting Bill personally, and he's a great resource to have on your team.

One of the most common questions we get from our users at ForeclosuresMass is "Now that we have the foreclosure data, what do we do with it?" Well there are many different way to pursue foreclosures and when we first read "Are You DUMB Enough to be RICH" by G William Barnett II we thought Bill was reading our minds! In his book, he goes over how to approach people in foreclosure, what letters to send them, what to do once you meet with them, how to structure the deals, your 120 day step-by-step plan, how to find investors, and much, much more. In addition to foreclosures, he also goes into the many other ways to make money in real estate. Add on the forward by Robert G. Allen and you have one fantastic book!.....

As a newcomer to real estate investing, I've heard about "Dumb Enough" at a seminar in California. On my 3 hours flight back to Detroit I couldn't take my eyes from the book. This was EXACTLY what I was looking for: an action plan in form of a step by step approach for the first 120 days. Just following the how to steps described in the book I started - in a matter of days - placing adds on the newspapers, sending messages to attract money lenders (which I placed on the back of my business card) and contacting companies to help me find great real estate deals.

This review is from: Are You Dumb Enough to Be Rich? The Amazingly Simple Way to Make Millions in Real Estate (Paperback)
This book is grounded in the fundamental concepts of real estate that will take your thinking to the next level. This book is entitled `Are you dumb enough...' but it is essentially asking one if they `Are smart enough...' The code has been cracked so simply follow the guidelines set forth in this book. Mr. Barnett presents a strong case to get back to the basics and not try to create unnecessary work, but a more efficient way of working and thinking about real estate. Many times inexperienced, as well as experienced, real estate investors get off track and try to overcomplicate the process of investing. Mr. Barnett presents a clear and concise path for real estate investors at any level to add to their arsenal of knowledge.

I read this book from cover to cover within 24 hours. Author Barnett explains things in a very easy to understand, non-threatening manner and fills in some of the gaps you may have from reading other books. Other books *say* what you have to do, but don't necessarily tell you how to do it. This is a wonderful book that gives the beginning real estate investor some true nuts and bolts to use in their first few transactions. Let this book be your mentor that won't expect 50% of your deals in exchange for the help. I know I'll be rereading this book many times.I really wanted to give this book 5 stars because I think it deserves it, but could only give it a 4 because the book refers us to the site several times for this or that, but when you get to the site you don't see anything he was referring to. This was the only confusing part of the book. The rest of the book is an absolute goldmine - just waiting for you to take action on your dreams. Do you know the difference between dreaming and reality? The ACTION you take. You can't reap what you don't sow and you can't plow a field by turning it over in your mind. Take the steps to make your dream a reality. One of those baby steps is buying this book. Don't think you can't do it!

I am undecided about how to rate this book,

This review is from: Are You Dumb Enough to Be Rich? The Amazingly Simple Way to Make Millions in Real Estate (Paperback)
This book is written for people with little start-up capital, and purports to show how they can make money in an "amazingly simple" way (yes, amazingly simply are his words, not mine). From this standpoint, the book is not worth much. I seriously doubt a reader will have much success in getting other people to lend them money for real estate deals based on what amounts to a short paragraph that he instructs you to use. It is an insult to the average reader, IMO, to expect that this works.
Furthermore, the chapter on tax liens is about worthless, as these liens are bid down routingly. The author makes it sound like making 18% in Florida is a snap. Not true. There is a lot of fluff in this book. However, having said all of that, I do not regret reading it. For one thing, I have capital and don't need to go out begging people to loan me money. So, with money to invest already in hand, I felt that some of the chapters were worthwhile. His chapters dealing with the proper way to present offers to potential sellers was good, as were the various options one might give the distressed seller. Mainly, it got me thinking about ways to improve on what he was saying, which still made it worthwhile. Still, even with the substance sprinkled in, this is still a "how to get rich" book in an "amazingly simple" way. This author oversimplifies throughout the book, IMHO. Not sure whether to recommend it or not. It is definitely not all bad, and I have read worse.

This review is from: Are You Dumb Enough to Be Rich? The Amazingly Simple Way to Make Millions in Real Estate (Paperback)
I've read several "real estate investment" books over the years and this one is by far the easiest to comprehend and then implement! It has a step-by-step process for starting your real estate investment business and has some good humor spinkled in to make it an enjoyable read as well as informative. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in starting their own real estate investment business. Kudos to Mr. Barnett !!!
