Product Description

The Acacia grater makes cheese preparation a breeze with its integrated foot and arched stainless steel cutting surface - no more chasing a grater and plate around on the counter. This Italian-inspired cheese grater is a beautiful and nicely made gadget that will become a mainstay in your kitchen arsenal. The dishwasher safe blades change quickly whether you want grated or shredded cheese, and the box and drawer can be hand washed as needed. Based on a decades old design by Italian craftsman, Enrico Ratti, this gorgeous box cheese grater comes with two stainless steel arched grater inserts suitable for soft or hard cheeses. The ingenious foot stop feature stabilizes the grater against the edge of a counter top during use and a removable drawer allows easy transfer of cheese to your dining table. Made from sustainable acacia wood. Food-safe lacquer finish. Hand wash wooden parts. Dishwasher safe stainless steel parts.

This grater not only looks beautiful, it works as well .

It looks beautiful if you like to grate the cheese at the table when hosting and it can be served straight from the tray.

Anyway, better in my opinion than many other graters we find in the US, but still not up to my grand mother's one!!

This is the best cheese grater I have ever used and due to it's excellent construction, it should last a very long time.

It is beautiful as well.

I saw a review of this "little wonder" in an Italian cooking magazine - "La Cucina Italiana". They gave it a great review but after Amazon sent me il Signore Enrico's invention, I realized it is better than great. It has three parts; a box into which the grated product drops and two steel metal parts that do the grating. Because both blades store in the box, there is no danger of misplacing the blades after use. You can grate a pound of a hard cheese like gran padano in minutes without any danger of nipping a finger and with zero hand fatigue. The box is a work of art. It is made out of an exotic wood, acacia, which has lovely light and dark graining. The edges are perfect as is its entire construction. Enrico 1005 Cheese Grater and Shredder, Acacia Wood

I was looking for a grater similar to the one my Italian grand mother used to have. One that can hold the grated cheese in once grated, that prevents cheese from flying all over the place. Hers was round, and I would hold it on my lap, grating away the Parmesan cheese on pasta day. Anyway, this one sits on the counter (unless your counter edge is rounded, then that won't work). You grate forward and backward, but for some odd reason, the front side does not have the wood edge that comes higher than the grate screen....So when you grate backward, the cheese falls off the grater on your feet. Also, when you are done grating, it is difficult to not make a mess with the cheese, because you want to collect the cheese that accumulated on top of the screen, but as you pull the screen out, the cheese falls down on each side. Anyway, better in my opinion than many other graters we find in the US, but still not up to my grand mother's one!! Disappointing.

The grater is outstanding. The shredder has not been tried yet. The parts clean easily and seem of good construction and materials.

This grater not only looks beautiful, it works as well . This grater and shredder overcomes the struggles we all have with a portable grater. The grater moves around and there is grated cheese everywhere. This unit is easy to stabilize and the cheese is contained in the box beneath until you're ready to use it.

This is a beautiful and very functional hard cheese grater . . . but it is huge! The inside is big enough to hold a quart of milk.

Beautiful design, it just broke. What a shame. They must have used cheap glue. I wish someone would make a high quality version of this.

The contour graters were difficult to remove and the drawer was not easy to slide back and forth. Would not recommend this product. Although I have seen graters with drawers, this is an inferior product.
