Gr. 4-5. There's not much more information here than is available in a fan magazine profile, but these compact, colorful books in the Young Profiles series offer visually appealing quick-fix fan facts about rising young (mostly in their teens and twenties) stars in the entertainment business. The subjects of these two books both have music in their backgrounds: Iglesias is an up-and-coming Latin pop singer; Clarkson won the 2002 American Idol title for her vocalizing. Wheeler opens both books with star stats, then uses each double-page spread to cover an aspect in her subject's life--background, breakthrough, "dreams." Wheeler isn't overtly reverential, her writing is competent and enlivened by quotes, and the numerous color photos (noticeably sharper in the Clarkson book) will please both young fans and browsers. Appended to each book are a glossary and ABDO's Web site address, where more information on the celebrity can be found. Stephanie Zvirin
