5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing from start to finish!
I bought Enrique's album because the very first time I heard "Rhythm Divine", it became one of my all-time favorite songs! And I also loved "Bailamos" when it came out during the summer and had gotten the single. I didn't became a major Enrique fan until I heard "Rhythm Divine" and that's when I knew I had to get his album when it came...

3.0 out of 5 stars Could I Hear One Song Forever?
Well, the industry continues to feed off the Latin market in the wake of Ricky Martin's success. Here we have Enrique Iglesias who scored a number one hit in the summer with "Bailamos" from the movie `Wild Wild West". One thing that can be said, Enrique doesn't offer anything different that what Martin or Marc Antony have be releasing lately, with the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing from start to finish!, December 7, 1999

I bought Enrique's album because the very first time I heard "Rhythm Divine", it became one of my all-time favorite songs! And I also loved "Bailamos" when it came out during the summer and had gotten the single. I didn't became a major Enrique fan until I heard "Rhythm Divine" and that's when I knew I had to get his album when it came out. I didn't know what to expect when I bought it since I wasn't familiar with Enrique's past music. However, I was SHOCKED at how awesome this album is! I truly love every single song on here! All the up-tempo songs like "Be With You", "Oyeme", and "Alabao" are as great as "Rhythm Divine" and "Bailamos" and definitely make you want to dance! Slower songs like "I Have Always Loved You" and "I'm Your Man" are really touching since Enrique puts so much real emotion into them. He puts a lot of emotion into his songs whether they're slow or fast. The duet with Whitney Houston, "Could I Have This Kiss Forever", is simply beautiful. "Sad Eyes", a cover of one of Bruce Springsteen's songs, is great and has a rock sound. "You're My #1" is also stunning. I also love the 3 Spanish versions of some of the songs at the end of the album. This album is incredibly diverse, a mixture of Latin, pop, and rock and amazing fast songs and gorgeous slow ones. I bought it the day it was released, November 23, and since then I play the whole album at least once a day. It's been a long time since I've bought an album that I felt so passionate about. It's inspired me to want to buy Enrique's Spanish albums even though I don't know Spanish!

5.0 out of 5 stars Enrique du Fantastique!, March 2, 2000
By
"elyjar" (Perth, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Enrique (Audio CD)
This CD caught be completely off guard when i first listened to it. "ENRIQUE" is the self titled album from this young dynamic latino sensation. This is his forth and perhaps his most impressive release to date. Leaving the good looks and charisma aside, this album is evidence that this exciting young performer is more than just a pretty face. In fact, this guy is major talent!

In this album, Enrique demonstrates his maturity and versatlity well beyond his youth. This album has a quality that very few albums have, that is originality and the courage to experiment with different musical styles. He doesn't just adhere to his latin roots, but ventures into pop, rock and ballads with a new found confidence and inspiration under his belt. His mezmerizing vocals are an extension of his soul and what he's feeling deep down inside. This wonderful and emotional voice quivers like the wings of a moth in the fire and trembles like a falling leaf in the wind. This passion and exuberance flow right through the album from start to finish with honesty and an unpretetious quality that is un-matched by any other artist today.

'Rhythm Divine' is just that - Divine Rhythm that captures your soul and takes your cares away. The frank and sexy lyrics in 'Oyeme' and 'Alabao' will take your breath away and leave you wanting more. More is what you get, with tracks like 'Be with you' and 'Bailamos' which are just fantastic with an up-beat tempo best described as pop with a spanish/latin sound. A surprizing departure from his usual is the cover of Bruce Springteen's 'Sad Eyes', which he does so brilliantly(almost passes for Chris Isaak). Other winners in this bunch include the pop ballads 'I'm your man' and 'You're my No. #1'.

"Enrique" the album is also laced with some of musics' hottest stars. Included in the guestlist are Diane Warren, David Foster, Whitney Houston and Patrick Leonard. However, even the best producers and composers can only do so much, and in this case, the major success of this stunning album lies in the hands of the singer and writer, whose talant, passion and relentless drive for perfection has only produced one of the best releases of the year.

Like all other albums from Enrique, this one's unpretentious and comes straight from the heart.

5 Stars for a class act!

5.0 out of 5 stars Enrique Iglesias, January 12, 2000
This review is from: Enrique (Audio CD)
This has got to be the most exciting, talented performer that the world has seen in a very long time. His voice is very different (love that tremble), and his music is hot, hot, hot! If asked to choose a favorite from this CD, I am at a loss because they are all my favorites. He mixes latin beats and dance tracks, as well as ballads. The entire flow of the CD is unmatched. If you haven't tried Enrique, you are missing a lot. I hope that he continues to intrigue and excite us with his music, style and wonderful voice. Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album, January 21, 2006

I got this album when it was first released, when I was fourteen or so. I saw the video for "Bailamos", and I knew I had to have this cd. Years later, I still find myself sitting here listening to it. I absolutely love this cd. It was honestly life-changing for me... It inspired me to take Spanish classes in high school, and I wouldn't be where I am today if not for those classes.

Some of the songs aren't great. I don't really care for "Sad Eyes", and I hardly ever listen to the Spanish versions of anything but "Rhythm Divine". However, the rest of the tracks make up for it. "Bailamos" is still one of my favorites, and it has been years since I first said that. "You're My #1" has beautiful lyrics, and it is sung with incredible emotion. "Oyeme" and "Alabao" will make you want to get up and dance.

Overall, this is an excellent album. If you like any kind of pop or latin music, this is a good album for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why is it SO LOW on the Billboard Albums Charts, January 28, 2000
This review is from: Enrique (Audio CD)
Well, No. 39 might not be considered low for some, but this CD should have been #1 since the day it came out. I LOVE THIS CD! Enrique proves his is EVERYTHING that Ricky Martin will never be. Enrique can actually sing, for heaven's sakes. (maybe the family blood has something to do with his great pipes) Included Bailamos was a good thing, but that song hasn't even scratched the surface of Enrique's talent. Rhythm Divine is AN AWESOME song, and it sounds just as cool (if not cooler) in Spanish, thoguh i can't understand it! I love Oyeme, I'm Your Man, Sad Eyes and I have always loved you. All are wonderful songs, with a latin beat to it. But, My ABSOLUTE favorite on this disc has got to be Could I have this Kiss Forever. I ABSOULTELY adore Whitney Houston, which I said on my member page, so having her sing a great song with one of my other fav singers, Enrique, is a great musical treat. GET THIS CD! THIS IS BETTER THAN RICKY MARTIN AND JENNIFER LOPEZ COMBINED!

4.0 out of 5 stars A little something for everyone, January 10, 2000
This review is from: Enrique (Audio CD)
Enrique Iglesias proves himself to be top of the Latin "crooners". This album has a little something for everyone. The opening track "Rhythm Divine" is a great follow-up to "Bailamos". Other terrific tracks: "I'm Your Man", "Sad Eyes", and "Alabao". The duet with Whitney Houston isn't bad either.

So what's stopping me from giving this a five-star review? There's not much differentiation between the songs. They all share similar beats, similar tempos, and a rather similar sound. Still, if you're looking for an album to unwind to, to dance to, or to just have playing in the background, you will not be disappointed with 'Enrique'.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Ususally DON'T LIKE THIS TYPE OF MUSIC but..., January 6, 2000
By
This review is from: Enrique (Audio CD)
I was quite pleasantly surprise by the depth and sophistication of EI's CD. I am ususally into modern rock but this CD is what I feel a pop CD should sound like mature sincerity, without any juvenile, bubblegum bounciness. The first 2 songs are definitely radio mainstays and the Springsteen cover is an excellent modern interpretation of a classic. Overall, an excellent pop album top to bottom with bountiful substance and shows superiority to the other Latin phenomenon by the initials RM.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Incredible 4th Album!, November 25, 1999

Becky (Pittsburgh, PA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Enrique (Audio CD)
As a long-time fan of Enrique Iglesias, I thought it would be appropriate for me to review his latest album. I have always loved the way he sang in Spanish, but I was very interested in his new project- and English album. This album did not disappoint me. Enrique has changed, or should I say "matured", but he is still the same guy who sang "Si Tu Te Vas" shyly four years ago. Enrique's voice sounds so sincere in the album. It is a mix of romantic ballads ("I have Always Loved You") and up-beat Latin-inspired songs ("Rhythm Divine", "Oyeme"). There is even a beautiful duet with Whitney Houston called "Could I Have This Kiss Forever"- a sure hit. Enrique even pays tribute to a favorite singer of his, Bruce Springsteen, by singing his own version of "Sad Eyes" (in both English and Spanish). All in all, this album is excellent. Enrique shines as a singer who has conquered so much in the Spanish-language market, and now is ready to take on the English market. Move over, Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias has entered the English-language market with "Enrique."

4.0 out of 5 stars Didn't think I'd like it as much as I do!, June 26, 2000
By
This review is from: Enrique (Audio CD)
I wanted this CD for a long time, but just never bought it. But I guess after hearing "Be With You" on the radio so much and having some extra money in my pocket I decided to pick it up. And I'm not dissapointed...in fact I would rate this as one of the best cd's of the past year and totally underrated. On some songs "Oyeme" and "Alaboa" he's trying to ride that Ricky Martin "Shake Your Bon Bon" type wave...and it doesn't work...it's just annoying. But Enrique is a really talented artist. "Rhythm Divine" "Be With You" "Bailamos" are really catchy pop songs, but are really well written and are more intelligent I think. I really like "Sad Eyes" which is a remake of A Bruce Springsteen song I've never heard. I think this is a great song. I like the way he sings because of his accent on certain words. I think this should be his next single...equiped with club mixes of course. "Could I Have this kiss Forever" with Whitney Houston is really good. But Whitney sort of overpowers the song, but it's ok (that's why it says Whitney Houston and Enrique Iglesias I suppose). All in all this is a real adult, smart, catchy album. He's really underrated. Oh and by the way the Thunderpuss club mix of "Be With You" is pure bliss. If you can find that than buy it at any cost.
