Míguel Ángel Fornerín es poeta, ensayista y crítico líterario. Doctor en Filosofía y Letras por el Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Puerto Rico y el Caribe, con una especialidad en Literatura Puertorriqueño y del Caribe. Realizó estudios doctorales en las universidades de Valladolid y Sevilla, de España; escribió su tesis sobre la obra literaria de Pedro Mir. Tiene una maestría en Estudios Puertorriqueños y del Caribe del Centro de Estudios Avanzados de Puerto Rico y el Caribe. Como escritor ha ganado el Premio Nacional de Ensayo "Pedro Henríquez Ureña" con La escritura de Pedro Mir en 1995.
