Product Description

Ensupra grid tie power inverter can obtain the wind and solar energy from wind turbine or solar panel, and can tie to the grid through its output cable with no extra equipment. The installation is Do-It-Your Self (DIY).When the sun shines, the PV panel will produces DC voltage, and the grid tie inverter will change the DC voltage to AC voltage and puts out power to the home grid, saving electricity. INSTALLATION: 1, Connect the Solar Panel or Wind Turbine s DC supply cables to the DC input terminal of the inverter, be sure that the polarity is correct. Recommended DC input cable size for maximum output is 12AWG or cables that can handle more than 15A. Optimal length would be less than 8m, longer cables will experience higher voltage drop. The range of output power of Solar Panel or Wind Turbine is 50W~550W. 2, Connect the supplied AC power cord to the inverter and plug it to a home wall socket. 3, The green LED indicators will glow when the grid and DC supply is detected. This indicates the inverter is operating under normal condition. The red LED will be on, the inverter will not put out power, this is called Island Protection. Please follow local regulatory electrical codes for installation. If in doubt, consult appropriate licensed contractor.Electrical Specifications: Maximum AC Output Power: 500W AC Output Voltage Range: 120V ±10% AC Output Frequency Range: 60±3Hz Total Harmonic Distortion(THD): <5% Power Factor: 0.96+ DC Input Voltage Range: 10.8-28VdcPeak Inverter Efficiency : 90% Standby Power consumption: <0.5W Output Current Waveform: Pure Sine-wave Over Current Protection: Yes Over Temperature Protection: Yes Reverse Polarity Protection: Yes Island Protection: Yes Stackable : Yes WARRANTY: 1 YEAR

I hooked up three 12 volt batteries in series, and used a Kill-A-Watt to measure the output. The output was 500 watts at 36 volt input, and the 90 amphour batteries lasted 5 hours. I believe the inverter will put out 550 watts at 48 volts. I have only run it 4 hours, but I don't expect any problems when hooking it up to a solar panel.

Works as described. September 15, 2011

The inverter is plug and play. Simple as that. I built my own 250 watt solar panel with another in the works. 4 bolts to mount the inverter in the box, M size connectors and plug it in. Flip the switch and the green light comes on. Done and done.

The unit i purchased lasted about 5 minutes before it stopped working. It was pulling power from a 12v 90watt solar panel (in full sun). The instructions explain what each LED is for but doesn't explain all the states. I understood what the green and red were for but the instructions didn't cover what it meant when both LEDs were flashing or when both LEDs were solid. According the to instructions, only one LED is supposed to on at a time. Operation seemed simple enough but there is no troubleshooting available. And when all you have is an input and an output, it doesn't take long to realize the unit just doesn't work. Numerous emails to the seller and manufacturer were all dead ends. I chose this product because of the cost, but i got what i paid for which is a $200 paper weight. I think i'll save my money next time and buy an outback inverter.
