Entangled Lives is a collection of erotic memoirs which I bought and read primarily because I'm a serious fan of Marilyn Jaye Lewis, a writer whose explorations into erotic realms consistently transcend the genre. Once again, Marilyn doesn't disappoint. As editor, she kicks off the anthology with a thoughtful introduction which positions this book squarely within the broader context of erotic memoirs in Western literature. Her own personal story was particularly touching ... a candid and poignant account of the collision between inhibition and desire. The other contributors to Entangled Lives are all well-known erotic authors. Their stories run the gamut from dark and steamy to lighthearted rambunctiousness. Although I found these pieces a little uneven, occasionally too glib or unintrospective for my personal taste, overall they speak to the value of honest, non-judgmental communication about our sexual needs and experiences.
