This unit works as you expect. It plugs in to the wall, so you don't have to replace batteries. It's simple to use: there are two buttons. A simple on/off (un-necessary since I keep it on all the time, and unplugging it serves the same purpose) button and an up/down channel selector good for American and European frequencies. That is to say, it allows you to select even and odd frequencies from 88.0Mhz all the way to 109.0Mhz!The unit has a single wire with a 1/8" mini stereo plug on the end. This is my only complaint, because it is difficult to find a way to plug this into a satellite receiver or other home audio component that uses RCA output jacks. Ok, you can buy an adaptor at Radio Shack for $6.00, but it's difficult to explain to the clerk what you want and why you want it! What you want is a stereo 1/8" coupler. Aside from that, it seems to work fine. The audio quality is decent and the frequency seems to be stable. I leave my unit on 24 hours/day and so far, it works just fine. The range is much better than I anticipated. Advertised range is about 30-150'. In practice, I get well over 300' feet of usable range. My unit is in my basement and I drove around the block in my car and could hear the signal fine. I suspect, taking the unit apart and putting an antenna on it would extend the range further. Just make sure you have a clear channel to use. The only bad comment on sound is the stereo separation seems poor, and that could be my signal adapter causing that. But my application is to be able to play satellite radio all over my house for background music, so I don't care too much. It would be nice to provide a level control, but again, it seems to work fine for my application, so....

Amazon has the picture of this one and the in-car transmitter switched, but the gizmo is great. Got it cheaper somewhere else, but it's still a good deal. The home version runs on AC so you don't have to use batteries. This has let me play my favorite Internet radio stations through my stereo. The sound is great, no static or anything. In my apartment it only has to transmit about 20 feet, so I don't know how well it works if the computer and stereo are farther apart.

First the bad news: Emtempo has stopped making these. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, Entempo has ceased to exist altogether! Which is a shame because this transmitter is, without, question, one of the best made for the money. Transmitting range on this bad little boy was up to 1 1/2 blocks with crystal stereo clarity.Hail and farewell, Entempo. Hopefully, someone will snap up the rights and specs for this fine piece of electronic wonder for future enjoyment. And if can get ahold of one of these anywhere else, DO IT! You WON'T be disappointed.
