Superb Muscianship and Lance King Vocals,
By
This review is from: Enter Eternity (Audio CD)
This second album from Shining Star--much better than their first one, which could hardly be called "metal"--rocks with a quality melodic metal/borderline power metal sound. Lance King's vocals are, as always, in top form. The production qualities of this album excel and, while most of the songs are straight-up metal, the commercial/harmonic (though still pretty hard) appeal of the song "Never Too Late" bears all the marks of a bona fide hit--were we in the late 1980s. Now, since the mid- to late-80s was the era of greatest metal glory, I find that Shining Star song--and indeed, this entire disc--to be a wonderful reviving of the classic metal sound. Rather than sounding dated, however, Shining Star has delivered a contemporary rendition of the classic metal sound and that makes this a CD very worthy of purchase. Positive, sensible lyrics preside also, making it a must for the level-headed headbanger.

Melodic and Powerful!! Love it all!!,

I love all of Lance King's works that I own to date. Anything with his name on it... has got to be absolutely awesome. No disappointments with anything on this CD. Many people who hear it whilst I am driving somewhere or visiting me, say they really like it and ask about it. Every song is put together well, as is anything that Lance has been involved in. It's Melodic and Powerful. You can really pick up the feeling of each song. Lances voice soars, but that's no surprise!! The lyrics are written very well! It totally rocks! I like it when I can kick back and envision in my own mind what the songs play out in my head and this CD is one of them. I am so very glad that this CD was brought to life! There is a good message within... life is an eternity of troubled minds and troubled times. We Fight the evils!! Always try to find a way out or never give up. Seems like the theme is woven here and there throughout the CD. Once you hear Lance, you'll be looking to find anything with his name on it!

Enter Eternity, the second album by Brazilian band Shining Star, features outstanding guitar work from Fabio Rocha and phenomenal vocals from the incredibly gifted singer Lance King. My favorite tracks are "Insomnia" and the beautiful ballad "Never Too Late," both of which I can put on repeat for ages, they're that good! Other standout tracks are "Nightmare" and "Insanity." The whole album is well worth a listen and highly recommended for fans of hard rock and melodic metal!

Melodic rock is back!!!!!!!!!!,

Shining Star answers the question is 80's metal gone for good.Answer, NOT EVEN CLOSE. This disc is far from dated sounding yet brings the spirit of the great 80's metal back. It has the edge of bands like Savatage and the melody of TNT. Lance King, vocalist of Pyramaze, Avian, and ex- Balance Of Power demonstrates great melody and power on this debut. The songwriting is what melodic fans want and what Prog and Power metal fans will enjoy as well.........

LANCE KING DOES IT YET AGAIN,
By
This review is from: Enter Eternity (Audio CD)
When LANCE KING left BALANCE OF POWER i was devastated, as they were one of my 3 all time favorite metal bands (BALANCE OF POWER, NIGHTWISH, and ROYAL HUNT). But then i heard he had signed with this great Brazilian band called SHINING STAR. OH BOY LANCE will be back on the scene again. But again disappointment, the CD never came, and then LANCE went to PYRAMAZE(AWESOME Band) and they are now his main band. All of a sudden i hear that the HSINING STAR cd that was recorded a few years back will be released in NOV 2005. OH JOY, well i got a copy for CHRISTMAS (AUTOGRAPHED by the man himself LANCE KING) Well, i was not disappointed except for the fact that the CD needed to be longer, it is that good and makes you want more, and more and more. Yes LANCE is my favorite vocalist, and everything he touches is gold. His voice has that ability to take the most mundane and make it great. He sings from his soul, and puts his whole being into every song. Do yourself a favor Order this cd and put it in the player, put on some headphones get a glass of iced tea, and "Enter Eternity", and don't look back.

HECK YA!!!,

recently got the Shining Star CD and felt I should leave my thoughts on it for all of you .First off I must say I am very impressed. The songs have a very large amount of emotion behind them and are still very catchy. The guitar's are abit different than most bands in the progressive metal genera . However that's not exactly bad, they still had some of the technical side of things. But had a wonderful groove and feel to them. That I was impressed . The keyboards totally brought things together. I'd love to work with the gentlemen that does them(sorry I cannot remember his name) When it comes to vocals ,I feel it's some of Lance King's best vocal work to date. With so much power and passion behind it. I wish many of the vocalists out there would take note of this and remember it when they go to sing. The only tiny issue I had is one or two song's some of the effects on it were abit strong for my taste. But I tottally love it. Iv not take this disk out of my player since I got it around a week ago. I highly recommend you all get it if you haven't yet.

------------------1st REVIEW POSTED ------------------ SHINING STAR `ENTER ETERNITY' (NIGHTMARE RECORDS) Brazilian band with a high quality new CD release on which we can also enjoy the wonderful lead vocals of LANCE KING (ex-BALANCE OF POWER, AVIAN, GEMINI). Actually Lance is making this CD sound like a true winner, although I need to add that also instrumental it all sounds perfect. However, this is the kind of CD I was expecting from Lance since his legendary BALANCE OF POWER record `Perfect balance' which is still one of the best Melodic Metal releases in the 2000s. Anyway, with SHINING STAR he has delivered a fantastic Melodic Metal album which sounds a little more polished than the BALANCE OF POWER classic and also reveals some MALMSTEEN similarities. My favorite track is the superb "From now on" with it's catchy strong chorus sounding like 80s MALMSTEEN meets FATES WARNING/QUEENSRYCHE. In total 10 songs are included, of which the other highlights are "Insanity", "Dangerous game", "Travel through time" and "Insomnia" (beautiful AORish, very much like SHY/TNT) as well as the beautiful perfect 80s sounding AOR/Melodic Rock ballad "Lady of the night" that sounds already like a classic! Definitely a winner for any fan of high class Melodic Metal in the style of TNT, 80s QUEENSRYCHE, CRIMSON GLORY, BALANCE OF POWER, SYRUS, MALMSTEEN..., although the AOR/Melodic Rockfans will probably also like this CD a lot. Shining Star recorded a melodic hard rock album with a very bombastical sound, featuring lots of keyboards and a leading role for Fabio Rocha, playing classical, Yngwie Malmsteen like guitar parts. 'Enter Eternity' has nice and catchy compositions in the style of TNT, Kamelot, and Balance Of Power, during their 'Heathen Machine' album, which was, funny enough, the first post-Lance King album. I don't know if King is a full member of Shining Star, or just a guest appearance for one album, but his technical vocals suit the band perfectly. The bombastic sound is very enjoyable and almost all songs are strong compositions and very well structured. King and his mates make an excellent performance on the album. The only disappointment about 'Enter Eternity' is that all the songs are played in the same (mid-) tempo. That's a pity, 'Enter Eternity' is a very strong album but it would have been even better if there were a couple of fast songs on the album. Lance King, the king of melodic metal \nn/,

Lance King, current vocalist for the progressive metal band, Pyramaze, sings lead on Shining Star's debut, Enter Eternity. If you miss Lance fronting a less heavy, more melodic band like his former band Balance of Power, then Shining Star might quench your thirst!Unlike Pyramaze, Shining Star focuses more on lighter, melodic guitar riffs, while Pyramaze is more of an aggressive, heavy sounding music. Keyboards seem more prominent in Shining Star as well. Alas, Lance proves how diverse his taste is, as well as the diversity of his fans! If you enjoy such bands as: Balance of Power, TNT, late 80s Europe, or even Journey, then give Shining Star a listen. I'm positive you won't be disappointed. |
