Elizabeth Cadell is always satisfying and this book is no exception. Mrs. Belchamber is a stodgy old English lady who attaches herself to a man who has just taken over guardianship of three children. She sticks like glue even though they end up staying with his friend in an untidy (downright disgusting according to the fastidious Mrs. Belchamber!) farmhouse. A little mystery and a little romance help create an atmosphere that makes you sorry to have to leave when the book is through.
