5.0 out of 5 stars A stunning debut album, June 9, 2002

This review is from: Enter the Unknown (Audio CD)
Simulator's `Enter The Unknown' is an exciting blend of instrumental and vocal tracks. This guy can really play keyboards and hits the spot with 12 powerful tracks, some of which include vocals from Rachel Cicci and also Brand New Idol singer Frank J. Freda. A pleasing hint of Depeche Mode runs throughout the album, but unlike a number of artists who merely copy the DM sound, Simulator's Ross W. Beall has incorporated it into his own unique style. My favourite track has to be the excellent `Realm' with the really fat bassline providing a strong backbone. I had previously heard a vocal version of this track on the Intervox `Blend' CD, the Simulator version is even stronger for the lack of vocals, concentrating on the impressive instrumentation.

`Enter The Unknown' is the perfect album to listen to this summer. It's perfect for the dance floor as well as the car and everywhere else! `Enter The Unknown' has been well received by everybody so far and listening to it you can see why. This album should be a hit right across the spectrum of electronic music, and any fan of synthesisers should definitely have `Enter The Unknown' in their collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars The second coming of TRUE SYNTH POP, August 20, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Enter the Unknown (Audio CD)
THIS IS THE REAL THING! Forget APOP, forget VNV Nation forget everything you know about synth pop (or think you did). This release is the finest piece of electronic music since Black Celebration. Beall skillfully crafts melodies reminiscent of 1987-88 synth pop and mixes them with todays cutting edge production.

Simulators song arrangement strength eliminates the need for constant vocals, and they are scattered sparringly over this masterpiece of a release. Of particular note is guest vocalist, Rachel Cicci's contribution to "Regression". Light, airy, female vocals over synth pop is a rareity, the CD is worth it for even this one track.

4.0 out of 5 stars This guy is genius !!, July 2, 2002

This is a new way of synthpop potion in the making; and the outcome was not disappointing at all. Simulator relies solely on his creative instrumental arrangements since most of songs mixed well without the vocals. I just wish there are more songs with vocals, but that's just my personal preference. I give this 4 star instead of 5 because of that reason. But still, it is a SOLID album !! Peace !!
