Book Description

March 9, 2010
'Imagine what your students would learn if they were there when the Hebrews wandered for forty years through the wilderness. What would your students experience if they walked through an Old Testament Tabernacle? How would their lives be changed if they really understood the Kingdom of God? When it comes to learning, all the best teaching can't compare to the value of an interactive experience. When your students have the opportunity to use all their senses and personally participate in a lesson, they walk away with a greater understanding. Enter the Story gives you everything you need to help your students engage in and learn from the Bible with seven unforgettable, hands-on experiences. As you understand more about experiential learning, you'll also find detailed instructions to effectively prepare experiences on: * Creation * Separation * Wanderings * Tabernacle * Kingdom * The Cross * Restoration Whether used individually or in succession, at a weekly youth group meeting or during a retreat, these practical and easy-to-use experiences will shed new light on the Bible and allow students to truly enter into God's Story. 5.0 out of 5 stars Tons of Material January 28, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I haven't done a lot with experiential programming, but this book has a ton of material for the price, and it's all fairly easy to adapt. It seems to be intended for use as an event over several hours/days - the handouts talk about stations building on one another (typed at the bottom: "Leave your handouts in a stack for the next group, and move on to the next station.) I think senior high students could follow the transitions if you use if for youth group from week to week, but it's a bit much for junior high students to stay connected. I've still used it with my group of 6th - 12th graders and it's working well. Much better than traditional pedantic style teaching curriculum.

This is a very practical book on storying. It is important to read this and be ready for storying any where you are using this idea that originated with Jesus.
