it's like Fran's talking to you in person,
By Judith (Marburg, Germany) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Enter Whining (Mass Market Paperback)
Well, actually I don't read biographies, but I'm a very big fan of Fran since I saw her the first time as "The Nanny", and so I thought to read her book would be a little fun, but it was a lot more than "only a little fun"... Most of the time it was a night of laughing, but sometimes really hard to read what happened to Fran... But nevertheless: it is one of the best books I've ever read! And it containes really great pics of Fran, her family, Chester and so on... I loved the book so much that I bought the audio version, too. It makes a lot of fun to hear it while driving my car. I LOVE her voice! I really hope Fran will write a second book... So, for any fan of Fran: read this book! It will be seem to you like Fran's sitting right in front of you and tells the story of her life only for you! Fran, you're the BEST! Judith

Riveting,
This review is from: Enter Whining (Mass Market Paperback)
What a fantastic book! It's written as though Fran Drescher is there talking to you and I've never read anything so funny in my life. This woman has been through SO much and yet remains positive and happy. You laugh out loud one minute, then find yourself crying the next, only to start laughing again as you turn the page. It's almost like reading the diary of a friend, it's written so naturally. You find out how Fran strives to reach stardom and all about her husband and family and it even touches on her terrible ordeal at the hands of a rapist in her own home. You also get a great insight to her hit show, 'The Nanny,' with some amusing behind the scene's stories and pictures. In fact there's pictures galore throughout the whole book and by the end of it you feel like you're one of the family too. Even if you're not a fan of Fran's, it's a great read about one woman's struggles and joys on her journey through life. I assure you, you'll find it hard to put down once you've started to read. Just buy it and see.

Enter praising Fran!!!,
By Katie F. "kayters" (Marietta, GA United States) - See all my reviews

Wow - what can I say? A great, gossipy, girl-next-door novel from the nasally voiced girl from Queens. Having read Cancer Schmancer and knowing what happens with her and Peter Marc Jacobson, parts of this novel were really sad. It is so obvious that she was very deeply in love with her husband and I wish they could have worked it out because they went through so much together.Catty Ms. Drescher is not. She tells stories on herself and you have no doubt that she is as lovely in real life as she is in her books. How could she not be?

I Love Lucy, I Love Fran!,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Enter Whining (Hardcover)
Believe it or not, I never watched The Nanny on prime time television (where was I?). YO. Last year I was home recovering from major surgery and started watching Lifetime (what else is there to do?). I turned on this program one morning, and I thought it was hysterical. It reminded me of I Love Lucy, my all time favorite sitcom. (Well, where have I been, apparently, everyone thinks the same thing). I was hooked and watched it almost everyday. Now it comes on in the evening. I actually got my husband to watch it (he never watched it either - no wonder we are together). He loves it. He started asking me questions about Fran. So I searched the Internet and found that she had written 3 books. I loved this book. I feel like I know her - we are even the same age (I wish I looked as good as she does). She would fit right in with my friends. We both own a Russian Blue Cat (my cat looks just like the one in the book, the collar and the tag). I really enjoyed the pictures (it is like a scrap book). I would love to meet this person. You must read this book. Can you tell I connected with this person? (I am not the "star struck" type). This is a very funny lady and I look forward to reading Cancer Schmancer. Very enjoyable read. I was able to get a "used" book because this is out of print. I hope to see her in more films.

Absolutely Hilarious, Honest and Candid,
By
This review is from: Enter Whining (Mass Market Paperback)
Fran Drescher is as funny in print as she was on "The Nanny". Filled with witticisms and wisecracks, you'll find this book hard to put down once you start reading it! It's also filled with tons of photos--Fran is quite a shutterbug and always has her camera ready to record even the most mundane (yet still interesting) aspects of her life. She talks about her rape with honest candor, yet still remains positive and upbeat. You'll see what a survivor she is in the face of this terrible experience. She is also a tough cookie and shrewd businesswoman when dealing with the Hollywood sharks and users. I miss her show, but have enjoyed re-reading this delightful biography. If you can't find a copy of this out-of-print book, buy the audio book. Hearing Fran narrate the story in her own voice will bring triple the laughs!

A funny and surpricing book about Fran Dreschers life !,
By A Customer
This review is from: Enter Whining (Mass Market Paperback)
If you are into Fran Drescher - well then BUY IT!! The book has it all. It was so funny - all of Frans mistakes and her funny family. But also surpricing when she talks about her being raped and her personal problems going through that and some other things. There are particulary one page I love. Fran tells about her mother (Sylvia) calling to tell about Frans sister Nadine, while Morty is busy watching two women on tv...well the rest you have to read! After Reading it I almost think I know her personal as if she was my best friend.

Fanatastic! Reading about whining is better than hearing it!,
This review is from: Enter Whining (Mass Market Paperback)
I was reading this book in college cafeteria...I laughed so hard, that I can't imagine what people around me must have thought. But, who cares? The main thing is that this book is hillarious and very powerful, at the same time. I have always realized that TV Nanny character was largely based on Dreshcher's own personality. However, I had no idea that the real Nanny (i.e. Drescher herself) was such a talented writer, strong person, and much less "annoying" (meaning her whining) woman. As I said this book is absolutely funny (it also has the funniest pictures that people could ever take of themselves, too), yet it is not all just fun... As Drescher shares her most personal experiences with the readers, she also makes you think about life, family, and the "glamor of Hollywood". I recommend this book to absolutely everyone (even if you are not Dresher's biggest fan...I, most certainly, was not). TO SUMMARIZE: This book reads like a high-class comical fiction, yet it is ablsotutely true and about a real person. Dresher's writing style is simply wonderful!

Any Fan of Fran Drescher will absolutely love this book. She is incredibly honest and down-to-earth as she chronicles the story of her troubles with receiving an appropriate diagnosis to her recovery from surgery. The book is also complete with tales from her personal life and the difficult separation from her long-time mate Peter, to her relationship with her new love, John.
