The Highest Calling,
By Mynda R. Martens (Virginia Beach, Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Enter the Worship Circle (Audio CD)
A Friend introduced me to this album on missions. He led worship with a few of thier songs and I had never experienced such an expression of ultimate love and surrender in the words of a song before. One Hundred Portraits and Waterdeep not only produced songs, they have tapped into the heart of a whole worship of the one true God and his saving grace. When I got back from my trip I searched all over for it (it was VERY hard to find) and once I had it I listened to it for 2 months straight. I only wish that there was more. The music and lyrics take you to a place of deep intimate worship that will make the surface level worship dead and empty. Its more than just toe tapping... Its on your face with your heart in compleate gratitude and desire for change. "To worhip God is to enter our highest calling..." -The Worship Circle

Best Worship CD thus far...,

If you call yourself a Christian and have not at least heard this CD, you are truly missing out on real worship and intimacy with Jesus. 100 Portraits and Waterdeep have been absolutely filled with the Holy Spirit in the creation of this album. The songs are truly God breathed, coming from Divine inspiration. This CD will change your life! I cannot even begin to choose a favorite song...every single one is awesome! If you are really wanting to experience God in a way you never have before...get this CD! I recommend listening to it in your room alone; just let the words sing to your heart and you will have one of the greatest times in worship with our awesome Father. Just let God come and meet you half way....He wants to speak to you through this album!

this cd has blessed me beyond words. i've driven my roommate nuts by listening to it so much, but it's so good! the intimate lyrics and passionate rhythms drive me to worship my Almighty Abba every time i put it on. anyone who's grown listless in their relationship with God or who wants some uncomplicated tunes to enter into His presence by ought to buy this cd. it will transform you into an intimate worshiper if you are not already!

Oftentimes, praise and worship albums seem contrived and generally un-worshipful. Enter the Worship Circle breaks this mold, as 100 Portraits and Waterdeep allow their raw, real passion for Christ to shine through on this album. The songs capture the heart attitudes of Christians today, but they don't compromise the scriptural basis that worship should [generally] be based on. I love the way it flows from song to song and I love the mostly accoustic based music. Unlike many worship albums, this is a sound you can really capture in worship at your home church or campus organization. Buy it for yourself, buy one for your worship leader! I can't give it a higher recommendation, folks!

A Review Wouldn't Do It Justice,

100 Portraits and Waterdeep's collaboration for Enter The Worship Circle is one of the best cd's I have heard. Their blend of worship and acoustic rock is amazing and the lyrics are incredible. I heard a worship leader sing the chorus to "You Are So Good To Me" and I didn't know where He got it from. Later that week I heard this CD for the first time. "You are beautiful my sweet, sweet, song." I can't describe how amazing this chorus is - the words speak about how much we should love the Lord.

Get ready to be inspired,
By Angela Klein (Fairbanks, AK, USA) - See all my reviews

I was so inspired by this album; the music, the emotion, the honesty and the simpleness of the rhythms and sounds. The instructions inside the jacket helped me to write many of my own songs. If you enjoy worshiping God, you'll enjoy this CD.

As the tantalizing rhythms echo through your being, the intimate lyrics draw your spirit closer to the Father. Whether it's the djembe and acoustic guitar combo on "Those Who Trust" or the loving simplicity of "You are so Good to Me," be sure these songs will resinate in your brain. Disclaimer: you will not be able to take this album from your CD player for the first 3 months you own it.

Unplugged, Spiritual and Earthy!,

Two of the world's more interesting pop bands get together and record an album of Christian worship: 100 Portraits, a duo whose sound is rooted in an acoustic vibe and who feature excotic percussion, confonting album covers and left of centre morality. And Waterdeep, an 'up with people band' if ever there was one, whose retro roots rock, alterna-folk and hippie gloss can't help but make one smile even when their lyrics, occasionally, get so introspective and dark one wonders if life is worth living! So does this project 'work'. Well, if you're buying because you want highly produced 'music' you will probably be disappointed. This album was recorded with the players standing in a circle, totally live and totally unedited. The music is acoustic and highly percussive, and the recording quality is deliberately organic. However, if you're a fan of Kevin Prosch, and others like him, who specialise in off the cuff, stripped down, live jams, you will love this. Generally whenever I've lent/given this recording to musicians involved in leading contemporary Christian worship, they love it. And when I've lent it to non-musicians they're disappointed. The album liner contains no lyrics but does contain extensive and useful notes. It is also graced with some interesting and expressive art work. The whole package is highly inspirational and a credit to the people involved. Lyrically these songs take the form of modern Psalms - pleas, confession, adoration and exasperation! I believe the lyrics and chords are available at one (if not both) of the band's web sites.
