If you like Tom Lehrer,

You'll probably enjoy this album. Although musically more interesting than Tom Lehrer, most of the songs, while quite amusing, lack the master's savage bite. Exceptions are "The Big Mac Tree" and "Fusion"--which manages to slam an entire musical genre and Paul Simon in particular.Other memorable songs include the title track, "Silicon Slim" and the cute "Tone Deaf." Some mildly forgettable songs round out the cd.

The best musical and lyrical satire since Tom Lehrer.,

Tom Lehrer said it himself. "You don't need me anymore now that you've got John Forster to kick around." This album is hysterical, insightful, a classic gem of musical satire, from fusion to folk, from politics to new age exorcisms. The title tune and the marvelously clever indictment of Paul Simon's "method" of annexing other people's creativity for his own musical needs alone are worth the price of the album.

Full of fun. I bought this for the title track. After hearing it many times on the Dr Demento show I decided to add it to my collection and see what else John Forster had to offer. Not a purchase you will regret.

Baseball players and parodists stand out if they hit home runs even some of the time. John Forester is a true all-star in his field, and some of the songs on this albums are classics in their genre. Entering Marion may not appeal to people outside the Commonwealth, but anyone who has driven there will always get a chuckle thinking about it. Silicon Slim has become a bit outdated, but the wit behind it is absolutely ingenious. I'd like to hear more from Mr. Forster, but I know that cabaret parodists rarely get paid in proportion to their talents. I hope he's doing well now.
