Book Description

June 2000
This inspiring, informative guide shows us how we can use the often overlooked time at the end of each day to enhance our spiritual, physical and psychological wellbeing.

Each chapter takes a new look at traditional Jewish prayers and what they have to teach us about the spiritual aspects of preparing for the end of the day, and of sleep itself. Drawing on Kabbalistic teachings, prayer, the Bible and midrash, the authors enrich our understanding of traditional bedtime preparations, and show how, by including them in our bedtime rituals, we can gain insight into our lives and access the spiritual enrichment the world of dreams has to offer.

Clear illustrations and diagrams, step-by-step meditations, visualization techniques and exercise suggestions for fully integrating body, mind and spirit show us the way to:

Hashkivenu—Freeing ourselves from spiritual impediments
Hareni Mochel—Praying for forgiveness
Shema—Asking for acceptance and understanding
Bircat Kohanim—Finding comfort in protection
Hamapil—Thanking God for sleep and illumination

5.0 out of 5 stars Setting the Spiritual Stage foe Dreaming, October 19, 2000
By
Connie Kaplan (Santa Monica, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Entering the Temple of Dreams: Jewish Prayers, Movements, and Meditations for Embracing the End of the Day (Paperback)
I teach dreaming as a spiritual practice, and therefore I am profoundly thankful for this book. It offers some very deep, rich and beautiful techniques for us all to use at the end of the day as we lay down to sleep and restore ourselves to the essential nature of Life. It is also an impeccably well presented and perfectly documented piece of research.

Its format makes it easy to read, and its language makes it easy to understand. Frankiel and Greenfeld have given you a gift through this book. I encourage you to accept this gift with grace and put it to work in your life!

3.0 out of 5 stars Mystical, July 10, 2011

This review is from: Entering the Temple of Dreams: Jewish Prayers, Movements, and Meditations for Embracing the End of the Day (Paperback)
Entering the Temple of Dreams is about the Bedtime Shema. It is an interesting read with some good information on some of the prayers included. However, there is too much Kabalah and mysticism for my taste, kind of "New Age" wrapped in a Jewish context.
