About the Author

Tom Tinsley is a visionary with decades of experience in Information Technology as a developer, as a manager, and as an Enterprise Architect. He is also the author of the book, Deadlines and Duct Tape. After years of managing Information Technology as a Vice President in Banking and as a Director in State Government, Tom turned to strategy and mentoring as an Enterprise Architect. His personal passion has been to bridge the gap between business management and Information Technology. He sees this as a win-win where business management can focus on servicing their customers and Information Technology can focus on providing reliable, high-performance, automated services.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thomas Tinsley's new book, Enterprise Architects Masters of the Unseen City, is a must read., June 1, 2010

This review is from: Enterprise Architects: Masters of the Unseen City (Paperback)
The book describes how the decisions driving the complex ecosystem of information technology will be moved into the hands of the people who use the business systems. He describes how this will allow for an unprecedented explosion in innovation.

He presents the role of Enterprise Architect as the key to this transition. The business decision-makers will be able to better understand what to expect from an Enterprise Architect. Enterprise Architects will be able to better understand their responsibility in supporting the decision-making process.

The book is an easy read with the help of two characters, the Enterprise Architect and the Intern. These characters will take you through data-gathering, automated modeling, governance, and metrics which are required to reach the goal of revealing the unseen city. I hope you find this book both informative and beneficial.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great EA read from the author for IT and business leaders, October 14, 2009
By
This review is from: Enterprise Architects: Masters of the Unseen City (Paperback)
As a follow-up to his first book, "Deadlines and Duct Tape: How to Manage the I.T. Function from a Business Perspective", the author continues educating the reader on the Enterprise Architecture (EA) journey of how corporations must strategically architect their systems from the business standpoint, not just ITs understanding of those systems and relationships. As Cloud Computing continues to be defined and evolve throughout the business world, this new book introduces some excellent EA design principles and visual techniques of how grounding your EA function strategically within the organization will facilitate a more targeted, successful approach to designing and upgrading your business information systems in the future.
