"In his new book Enterprise Information Integration: A Pragmatic Approach, JP Morgenthal provides a superb overview of EII, along with practical advice on how you can start using this important new technology today. This is the best book available on EII - whether you are new to the topic or have been working in this area for years - combining sound architectural principles with real world experience." - Greg Lomow, Senior Manager, Integration Services, BearingPoint and Author of "Understanding SOA with Web Services"
"This is an easily digestible, yet comprehensive work targeted at those exploring the value and application of EII. JP's writing style illustrates the very concepts embodied in his book on EII - take the complex and transform it into knowledge. Your questions will be answered and the confusion will clear." Ann Harten, SVP & CIO, SIRVA
"While technologies and approaches such as Web Services and SOA have gotten us closer to the goal of realizing truly seamless integration, it's becoming increasingly clear that information integration remains a significant challenge for most organizations. Full of useful information and without hype, this book goes a long way to helping companies understand, solve, and manage the problem of information integration." - Ronald Schmelzer, senior analyst, ZapThink, LLC

Excellent roadmap for busy IT manangers,
This review is from: Enterprise Information Integration: A Pragmatic Approach (Paperback)
Real world IT managers are usually faced with a mish-mash of new and old systems, tight budgets, and demanding customers. "Rip and replace" solutions are often neither possible nor desirable.
JP's work provides an easily digestible roadmap that shows how IT decision makers can leverage existing corporate information assets in building surprisingly new and powerful functionality. Starting with the importance of understanding data, Enterprise Information Integration provides useful insights into how emerging technologies and practices such as SOA can build "composite" applications merging what-already-works with what-is-needed. The book is well organized and written. It's also a useful communications tool that IT managers can use to explain these concepts to senior corporate executives. By John (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Enterprise Information Integration: A Pragmatic Approach (Paperback)
This book bridges the gap between management summary/overviews and tutorial/how-to books. It starts out with an introduction to the basic concepts and differences between EAI, EII and ETL. The book later explores issues associated with the "single view of the customer" problem and metdata management. The book includes several case studies and ends with a step-by-step review of how a model driven approach could be utilized to address a classical EII problem. Highly recommended.
