This review is from: Enterprise Networking: Multilayer Switching and Applications (Hardcover)
I found this book to be quite useful in introducing some emerging areaslike Web Switching and Caching as well as covering familiar areas like the OSI reference model in the context of switching. The chapter on VLANs helps explain an area which has seen a lot of interest over the past few years. "IP Switching and MPLS" is a comprehensive chapter with a lot of detail. I felt that the two VoIP chapters could have been combined into one. I would have appreciated some more details in the chapter on emering enterprise storage systems, especially regarding trends like Storage over IP. The chapter on security (Chapter 12) would have been more lucid with the addition of figures. Overall, it is a valuable addition to a network engineer's library due to the number of issues covered.
