Product Description

Praise for Enterprise Supply Chain Management: Integrating Best-in-Class Processes

"Enterprise Supply Chain Management: Integrating Best-in-Class Processes is a great primer on all things supply chain. This is a must-read for any IT, finance, business, or sales executive working for an organization where supply chain is a strategic discipline."
David Landau, Vice President, Manhattan Associates

"This book provides a comprehensive mapping of supply chain processes and associated solution architecture. Its clarity and concise language makes it a definite read for anyone with a need to understand the bigger picture on supply chain management solutions and best practices. Equally suited for supply chain managers, IT managers, architects, and students looking forward to a career in supply chain management."
Yasser Alkazzaz, Senior Vice President of Supply Chain, Hatch Corporation (Canada)

"Easily the best book for the practitioners who must understand the overall scope of supply chain functions, technology, and its impact on finance in an enterprise, without the need to get into the algorithms behind the supply chain solutions. The appendix on potential evolution of a green supply chain is thought-provoking for those pioneering carbon-aware supply chains."
Pervinder Joharformer, CTO and Executive Vice President, Manhattan Associates

"Great book and especially relevant in these times when reducing expenses is vital given the current economic times. The book clearly explains how implementing the correct supply chain processes can help you to achieve your cost-reduction goals; and if you are someone whose job depends on achieving these goals, this is for you."
Henry Blum, Manager, Logistics Applications, Inc.

5.0 out of 5 stars A view from the top and across the entire supply chain..., June 19, 2009
Rarely do you have the opportunity to see across the entire supply chain but you will need to understand the enterprise before implementing a new process, technology, or simply being effective. This is a great book to learn or brush up on "must know" fundamentals... The author has real-life experience implementing complex solutions and driving change in large organizations. This is a must read if you need to learn about a new supply chain subject area or starting a new business project that touches the supply chain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding book on supply chain!, June 15, 2009

The author has done an absolutely fantastic job in writing this book! The book is written for anyone who wants to understand what the supply chain is and what it can do for your company.

This book is arranged logically, with an introductory chapter followed by the scope of the supply chain. The author continues with three chapters on supply chain planning, then a section on supply chain execution (four chapters), and a final section (two chapters) on supply chain collaboration.

The appendices are extremely useful, covering various supply chain technologies, commonly used EDI codes, and incoterms. This is definitely a "must-have" book for anyone associated with supply chain or anyone who wants to know more the supply chain.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent handbook, December 11, 2009
By Jan Husdal (Molde, Norway) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Have you ever played SimCity? I used to play it a lot, and maybe that's why I fell for this book, because the cover picture looks exactly like a scene from SimCity. In some ways this book really is very "Sim"-like focusing on the nitty-gritty details of operations and logistics, the flows of ins and outs.

First, the books covers all there is to know about supply chains, it is also an excellent reference, with easy to navigate contents. Second, it contains an index that explains all the acronyms used in the book, e.g. COGS, OUTL, CTP, BOR to mention but a few. Third, there is an appendix on important issues such as ERP, RFID and cross-docking, emerging themes such as green supply chains, commonly used EDI codes and International Commercial Terms. In sum, it is an excellent supply chain handbook.

This is a book written by and for the supply chain industry. Period. It's an excellent book for the professional, but not for the academic. That said, as an academic with little (no) hands-on supply chain experience this is an excellent book for understanding how supply chains work in real life.
