We purchased this for our daughter, after her seeing the commercial and begging for it. It's an adorable puppy, that walks and swims in the water. It also comes with a towel and cute goggles (that she enjoys wearing herself). However, this toy eats batteries like no toy we've ever seen. The batteries were ate up in under 10 minutes of use, before she even got it into the water. We would not recommend, unless you have stock in Duracell.

I purchased this toy about a year ago for my daughter and she still plays with it a lot. Her little brothers also love it. It's neat because they can play with it outside of the tub as well as in it. (The puppy walks when not in the water.) I think it was a great purchase.

After reading all the horrible reviews, I was hesitant to purchase this toy for my 5 yr old. Since it was the toy he wanted most of the five things on his Christmas list, I got it anyway expecting disappointment. For two days after he opened it, he just played with it outside of the tub. I encouraged him to wait thinking that once it was in the water, it wouldn't work anymore. Finally got it into the tub and it worked like a dream. You don't have to turn it on, it just automatically starts paddling. Didn't have any issues with it tipping over, it swam beautifully during the whole bath. I did have a little trouble getting it to turn off...it wouldn't turn off using the on off button. I held it upside down to drain the water out of it and it did stop then. Then when I turned it right side up it continued running, so I held it upside down again and it stopped for good. Took about two minutes to get it to stop. I had warned my son that this toy might not work right, and we were both pleasantly surprised by how well he worked

One time in the water and it did not work again. We tried new batteries, everything. My daughter has autism and she totally flipped out when it broke. This is the biggest waste of money ever.

A lot of fun, encourages responsibility, and empathy. Very durable. Uses a lot of batteries.

This past Christmas, my daughter recieved one of these Swim To Me Puppies as a gift. We broke it out in January to use it for the first time. We put in the batteries and let her play with it during bathtime. Problem is, as other reviewers have stated, the toy will NOT turn off once it gets wet. You have to grab a screwdriver and remove all 4 screws and take out the batteries in order to turn it off. I sent an E-Mail to the company and their response was "We recommend that you clean the metal contacts on the front of the dog with rubbing alcohol and pressing the center of the heart for several seconds" Well, I did this several times, but each time I put the puppy back in the water, the same thing happens. Just a complete waste of money. Save yours, buy a toy that works!

After seeing the commercial for this little dog, it was the only thing my 4 year old wanted for Christmas. I was skeptical about buying it after reading some of the reviews. The dog walks and swims. My daughter has had a ton of fun with the dog just letting it walk through the house. The first day, the dog was on for most of the day - and the batteries didn't start to run low until the end of the day. Considering the use - I thought that was pretty good.

The only problem I see is that the dog doesn't really "swim" that well. It can topple over at first - but after it gets water in it, it seems to be fine. I gave this five stars because of the joy it has brought my daughter, the ease of use, and durability. She is loving this little dog and continues to play with it and bathe with it daily.

My daughter got this toy dog on November 19th 2011. She loves him, he is super cute. He walks great, and his swimming isn't too bad as long as the tub is pretty full. Well on November 30th 2011, just 11 days after getting him, My daughter and I were sitting on the couch when we heard a loud noise. I jumped off the couch to go check things out, i walked into the bathroom to find the dog walking around by itself! Yes the toy turned itself on! I don't know how, my daughter didn't even play with him that day. She played with him the day before. I went to shut off his on/off switch which is in his collar, and it wouldn't shut off. I kept trying it still wouldn't shut off. I finally had to take the batteries out. So now when my daughter wants to play with him, im going to have to put the batteries in and then take them out afterwards. I really hope the toy doesn't croak all together. It is a very cute toy, i just wish it worked right.

Amazon was great. I received the package quickly and it was well packed. My 7 year old granddaughter was very happy to get it. The idea that it was a rescue puppy was good. It gave me the opportunity to share about animals that have been rescued. The adoption papers was a good idea.

After reading all the negative reviews, I almost didn't get this for my daughter. She REALLY wanted it for her 6th birthday. We got it for her and she loves it. Many of yuo stated that it won't shut off - the trick is that you have to press the button on the collar and hold it down for a long time. Seriously, press the button and hold it down while you count to ten. It will turn off. Works every time. Just be patient.
