5.0 out of 5 stars Is this it?
Own the Eclectic album as a purist. Own Entheogen as a barnacle clinging to the Titanic. Own The Seraphim Fall as a member of the faith. Don't own Three Humid Nights in the Cypress Tree. Sorry Steve Albini... I'll calm down, but I'm shaking.

3.0 out of 5 stars not as good as Eclectic
Now, i agree with most of the other reviews here, but my own view is that for 'early' Bloodlet ( pre- Seraphim / 3 humid nights)you are better off with Eclectic; it has 3 of the songs off Entheogen anyway.Reason -Eclectic sounds rawer, production suits songs better and the tracklist runs better. You still need Entheogen if you are a completist though!

Bloodlet, Entheogen (Victory Records, 1996)

Okay, to start off with: Bloodlet are on Victory Records (think Integrity here).

Now that you know what you're getting into, buy away. You know what to expect. Hardcore vocal delivery, metal/core crossover music. Right?

To an extent. Bloodlet transcend the usual hardcore stylings by doing such things as recording songs that actually last more than five minutes, incorporating jazz and classical influences, and playing with the mixing board (listen to "Something Wicked" in headphones). Rather than the usual wall of sound, the band breaks every once in a while for a more obviously jazz-influenced bridge (and the lead vocalist's voice sounds oddly comparable to Maynard James Keenan's, during Tool's live renditions of "Bottom").

Bottom line is, if you don't mind the hardcore vocal style, you're probably going to get something out of this one. Very good stuff. *** ½

4.0 out of 5 stars Pure Evil, August 9, 1999

Pi**ed? This one's for you. One of the most brutal, angry bands in the hardcore scene tear out their own souls and burn them in front of you for your dining pleasure. It only gets scarier by reading the lyrics (Which, as is fairly common in this genre, are almost indecipherable otherwise). The slower bits with much clearer vocals are actually more frightening than the gut-wrenching screaming. A must have for anyone who can appreciate the truly intense musical experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars These guys are damn near perfect-- for what they do anyway, December 13, 1999
This review is from: Entheogen (Audio CD)
I grew up listening to bloodlet, and I have to admit that I listened to Entheogen for what amounts to probably 200-300 hours of my life. Sometimes while I did other activities, but still, that's a hell of a lot of time. I've played guitar for nearly 7 years, but I don't think I'll ever be up to the level of these guys. In short, I recommend this to anyone who likes music to be little more than just skin-deep. Oh, and if you don't like the idea of listening to some angry music, then just skip this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hardcore Has A New Image, March 5, 2005
This review is from: Entheogen (Audio CD)
Bloodlet was one of the best bands to have ever existed. Their material is really creepy and will eat your children. This band has a kick ass bassist with really creepy intros. Buy this CD, and you will know what I'm talking about. Pure, genius hardcore music. The best song on this record is "Eucharist". This song is brutal, creepy and different from what I'm used to listening to. Get this CD now and creep out the preps. Make them suffer. Play this at an Abercrombie and Fitch store to scare them off! Bye bye, losers!
