THERE ARE THINGS MUCH WORSE THAN ZOMBIES

First time in paperback!

In the long-awaited follow up to DEAD SEA, it has been several months since the disease known as Hamelin's Revenge decimated the world. Civilization has collapsed and the dead far outnumber the living. The survivors seek refuge from the roaming zombie hordes, but one-by-one, those shelters are falling.

Twenty-five survivors barricade themselves inside a former military bunker buried deep beneath a luxury hotel. They are safe from the zombies... but are they safe from one another? As supplies run low and despair sets in, each of them will find out just how far they're willing to go to survive.

Brian Keene's ENTOMBED... when the dead walk the earth, insanity is the only escape.

5.0 out of 5 stars About time someone taught me to love the zombie again! October 30, 2012
Format:Paperback
OK, let me set the record straight...at least for myself.

I hate zombies!

Movies, books, comics, t-shirts, bands, toys and god forbid whatever the hell else people make to ride out this incredibly over used horror "icon" and make themselves a buck. The market is saturated with these rotten dead things and it's bloody high time to put the nail in the last flesh eaters forehead and move on to higher ground.

Ok...I thought that way, then I read this damn book and the only other zombie novel I had read recently was Carlton Mellick's which was fun but this is a different bird, a rare bird indeed.

Since I've ignored the zombie genre, at least since Fulci's last great zombie film in the 80's and John Skipp's excellent collection 'Book of the Dead', I hadn't read Dead Sea. But seeing as how Mr. Keene mentions that this one is not a direct sequel I turned to the first page to see if it would at least strike my fancy...

Big mistake...huge mistake...what do I find? This...

"I was sitting in the movie room, watching an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force for the twentieth time and talking to the disembodied head of Dwight D. Eisenhower, when the rest of the group decided that we should all start eating each other."

Oh, great...now I'm bloody hooked!

Now I have to call into work and pretend I've been stricken with another rare flu, so I can lounge all day on my couch and read this until I'm done with it. If that first line gets me then that's it, nothing else exists until I can turn that last page.

I've always enjoyed reading Keene so I'm more then surprised I've ignored his zombie works, simply because he puts all the right ingredients into this novel and makes me feel the same way I did when I loved the genre. He puts the fear back into the creepy rotters and makes me remember them fond days when I'd push in a fresh VHS to watch some dripping Italian, sleaze fest.

Seriously what is the point in ruining this novel for any potential buyers, with sloppy walkthroughs. If you love Keene's stuff, you've already bought it. If you are weary of another damn zombie novel, then push aside your believes, because Keene brings back the heydays of the zombie. He'll make you remember why these critters are so damn scary!

Awesome stuff!

I thought it was another zombie read, instead a refreshing story of survival, love, hate, and the will to live.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it
For $10.95 I'd expect a novel, not some young adult format large print book about as thick as a notebook that you could finish while taking a long dump
