Terrible book,
By J Comer (Palmer, AK USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Entrepreneur's Fieldbook (Paperback)
This book was required reading for a college-level small business management class - otherwise I would have burned it already.
It's a biography in disguise of the author's own business ventures, which appear to be mostly failures. The case studies and study questions dangerously mislead the reader. Examples: suggesting that the test to determine whether one is an independent contractor or an employee is a financial one, rather than governed by IRS regs; a scenario where a business's purchase price includes buying that business' cash in the bank (weird); and implying that a small-town independent plumbing supply company that generates $100,000 in net annual income could offer its stock for sale publicly. This book (as of 2007) is hopelessly out of date. It's only value is to learn how not to run a business -- or to start a campfire.

Hits just the right level for new entrepreneurs,

This review is from: The Entrepreneur's Fieldbook (Paperback)
Hits a lot of areas that someone interested in starting a business or franchise should consider. Case studies are well-writen and easy to understand. I recommend it highly.
