Enviracaire E10 Digital Humidity/Temperature Indicator

We own four of these little hygrometers. I've found them to be accurate -- all are within 1-2% relative humidity of one another when placed next to each other (in general, hygrometers that are within 5% of each other are considered pretty accurate for low-cost, consumer-grade hygrometers). I have them dispersed throughout the house, so I can verify the temperature and humidity in each room.

The price is pretty reasonable, too. I like the look of these units, and their simplicity. The only "option" you can select is whether the temperature is in F or in C.

The first one we bought two years ago, and the battery is still going strong. I haven't checked the type of battery, though, to see what will be needed when replacing.

With this little tool, it's been easy maintaining the humidity in our house between 40-45% year round with the aid of three humidifiers.

It's certainly not a fine precision scientific instrument... but for average household use, it works great. We have several of these throughout the house, and have also given a few away. I've placed a few of these units in the same location, and after stabilizing, their readings are within 2 degrees F and 2% humidity of each other.

I brought this one and also one by Weather Channel, both do show similar readings. This one is good for its size and price.

I purchased this unit for the hygrometer, not the thermometer. However, when I first set up the unit the temperature seemed very low. I set it on my room thermostat, next to a third thermometer. This unit was consistently a minimum of six degrees lower than what the other two registered.

Humidity appears to be slightly off, maybe two or three percent. In my case that's insignificant enough as not to be a problem.

UPDATE: Avoid this seller. When I contacted them to return the unit it took three attempts and a threat to notify Amazon before receiving return information. I followed their instructions for return, via FedEx, almost a month ago (28 days) and after contacting them twice requesting the status of receiving a new unit have heard nothing. Complaint filed with Amazon today.

UPDATE II: Return was resolved after hassles.

UPDATE III: After writing this review the seller (Allergy Be Gone) contacted me directly to offer credit in exchange for removing my review. If you don't see many negative reviews of Allergy Be Gone that may be the reason why.

I put two of these E10 units in the same room as a Haier dehumidifier, which gave a digital humidity reading. After a hour one E10 read 31%, the other read 24%, and the Haier read 50%. Since this was done on a rainy day in Redmond, I'm sure the Haier was closer to the truth.

I recently became interested in the humidity indicator, and I found E10 to be the most affordable without having too small of a display. So far, it's been nice to have it in our bedroom, and although I bought three, I ended up giving two away. The recipients really liked it.

Pro: Large enough display. Simple.
Con: Wish it had a light button or something to see at night. I often check the indicator to check the room temp and humidity level (although the humidity level doesn't fluctuate too much despite my humidifiers).

This is a great buy, and I would buy more in the future...

I bought this to gauge the humidity in my office at work. It's reading 15% humidity right now which is totally wrong. We have 2 different gauges at home that do work so I brought one in today and it's really 47% humidity. Don't buy this if you're interested in the humidity reading. The temperature gauge works fine but that wasn't what I bought it for so it's basically junk to me.

The Enviracaire monitor comes with a triple A battery installed. Just cut open the clamshell packaging, remove the unit, and pull out the plastic tab to engage the battery.
Numbers on this unit are easy to read and it functions silently.
The humidity in our house dips and rises to extremes so we like to keep track of humidity levels on multiple levels.
This unit mostly coincides with other measuring instruments we have, some of which are analog.
I think the temperature reading on the Enviracaire is a degree or two over the actual and the humidity readout might be a percent or two under the actual humidity. However, the readouts are always consistent, so the discrepancies, if any, should be no problem.

We like our unit; it's small and inconspicuous. Keeping the humidity low in summer reduces allergengs, viruses, and bacteria in the air.

We needed some small thermometers to gauge the fluctuation in room temperature throughout our house. I had a hard time finding just a thermometer that we could set on the window sill or a desk. Finally settled on this humidity/temperature device. It's the right size and easy to read although the humidity numbers are larger than the temperature so we had to get used that. What has bothered us, however, the two, setting side by side, do not display the same temperature. Which is correct? So while they have been somewhat helpful we just have to wonder how accurate they are.

Bought three and placed them side-by-side for weeks. Temp readings are within a degree and close enough for me. Humidity percent readings within 4 units. Backsides are not flat so they are not suitable for hanging on a wall. Also may not be suitable for inside an instrument (guitar) case. Knew all that when I bought them so no complaint. But I took one apart one and I was disappointed that nothing inside is adjustable. The cost of a part or two should be minimal so I don't understand why not.
