Product Description
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) - A colorless, odorless gas most commonly generated by respiration, cooking, heating systems and wood stoves. High levels of CO2 may cause headaches, fatigue, eye, nose and throat irritation.
Carbon Monoxide (CO) - A colorless, odorless, highly toxic gas produced by incomplete combustion of carbon based material. Common sources include automobile exhaust, cigarette smoke, kerosene heaters, furnaces and gas water heaters. Low concentrations of CO can cause fatigue and chest pain.
Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) - A colorless, highly poisonous gas that is a by-product of combustion. Sources include furnaces, gas water heaters, wood stoves, gas appliances. Can cause severe irritation of the throat, nasal passages and upper respiratory tract. High level exposure over long durations is very dangerous.
Formaldehyde (HCHO) - A colorless, pungent gas found in wood building materials, plastics, personal care products, textiles, carpets, paint, cleaning products and adhesives. This gas may cause burning sensations in the eyes and throat, nausea, nasal and upper respiratory tract irritation, wheezing, fatigue, skin rash, severe allergic reaction and difficulty breathing in some humans exposed at elevated levels (above 0.1 parts per million). High concentrations may trigger attacks in people with asthma.
Mold, Bacteria, Yeast and Fungus - Mold is a furry growth on the surface of organic matter caused by fungi, especially in the presence of dampness or decaying matter. Yeast is a cluster of minute, fermenting fungi that produce gas.

Amazon Verified Purchase
Bought a couple of kits after some concerns with my basement. There are a couple things worth mentioning. The bacteria and mold tests are pretty worthless, you can get those at most local stores for under $10. Second, the gas tests need exactly 10 hours of exposure to be read. Third, the instructions on how to read the results that came in the package were unclear, and apparently not quite correct. The PDF available at testcountry.com was better. There are only a few subtle differences, but those are important. Pay VERY close attention to what the tubes look like beforehand, especially in the area/strip where color change will appear. I'd recommend taking a few digital pictures just to remind yourself. In some cases the change can be very slight and you'll be wondering if thats what it looked like originally.
Pros:
Relatively cheap. Lab based tests are going to be in the $200-500 range.
No waiting for lab results.
Cons:
Compared with the lab based tests I used, accuracy is a low.
Instructions are poor.
Did I mention the 10 hour timer is critical? Don't forget to check it on time.
Mold test isn't necessary.
For a quick and easy test for a few common gases, its not a bad deal.
